Meet one of our Bro a Byd Award finalists – Royal Oak Hotel 🌿

This independently owned historic hotel in the heart of Betws-y-Coed believes tourism should benefit the place and community that make it possible.

Their approach is rooted in Eryri – actively keeping tourism spend within North Wales, supporting independent businesses and local skills, reducing environmental impact and giving guests a meaningful connection with the area.

Their monthly Snowdonia & Local Producer and Makers Market provides a platform for local producers, makers and micro-businesses, connecting them directly with residents and visitors alike.

In 2026, the refurbishment of their lounge brought these values to life. Local designers, craftspeople and trades were commissioned to create something unique – bespoke textiles telling stories of Eryri's landscape and farming heritage, and oak from their own woodland transformed into furniture by a local maker.

Responsible tourism that looks beyond the hotel walls. Congratulations and good luck! 🏆

I’m really pleased to be bringing one of our Christmas wreath workshops to the Royal Oak Hotel in Betws-y-Coed this year. 🎄🌿

The Royal Oak is such a beautiful setting for a festive afternoon, right in the heart of Betws-y-Coed and surrounded by the Conwy Valley. It feels like the perfect place to get creative and start feeling properly festive.

We’ll be making natural Christmas wreaths using twisted willow, sustainably sourced and foraged foliage, dried flowers, grasses, seed pods and seasonal textures. The dried flowers we’ll be using have been grown on my farm in Ruthin, and I’ll guide you step by step to create your own unique wreath.

Everything you need is provided, along with a mince pie and your choice of mulled w**e or a hot drink. 🥧☕️

Come along with friends or enjoy a creative afternoon to yourself, and leave with a handmade wreath ready for Christmas. 🎄✨
