🐄 The Curious Case of the Midnight Cows 🐄

Long before cars travelled the A5, Welsh drovers (Porthmyn) guided cattle on foot through these beautiful valleys, taking livestock to markets across the border.

Fast forward to 2026, and around 20 cows decided to moo-ve on up to the Waterloo Hotel, travelling around 5 miles under the cover of darkness for an unexpected overnight stay with us.

Thankfully, this little adventure had a happy ending, and all cows have now been safely reunited with their farmer.

It seems the old droving spirit it still alive in Betws-y-Coed. Although next time, we might suggest they book ahead!
