Thirty seconds of coastal calm from North Wales

Sometimes the best thing you can do with half a minute is simply watch the tide come in.

This little clip was filmed on the North Wales coast, on a quiet stretch of sand with the waves rolling in slowly and the clouds drifting over a distant headland. No rush, no crowds, just the sound of the sea and a bit of breathing space.

Breakfast with a view

Morning light through the bay window, tables laid with Portmerion, and a buffet full of good things to start the day.

Breakfast at Bryn Bella is served in our dining room in Betws-y-Coed, looking out across the green hillside. Local cheese, cooked ham and fresh bread sit on the sideboard, and there is a plate of a full cooked breakfast waiting at a window table, with a view of the garden flowers outside. It is a gentle, unhurried way to begin a day in Eryri (Snowdonia).

A quiet window seat, a view across the green hills, and a pile of guidebooks waiting on the table.

This is one of our favourite reviews from August, left by guests who stayed with us here in Betws-y-Coed. This is Bryn Bella Guest House in Betws-y-Coed, a small, independently run place with five ensuite rooms.
