Just wanted to share a
Risby Coaching Report from Austin's dad, Mark, from a session done on The Tench Pond today...

"Outstanding fishing experience with Robbo!

We booked Robbo to teach my son fishing for the very first time and we couldn't have asked for a better instructor. He was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and you can tell he has years of experience.

What stood out most was his patience. My son thought he was really funny and kind, which put him at ease straight away. Robbo went absolutely above and beyond to get my son to a good standard, explaining everything so clearly and making it fun the whole time.

To top it off, my son caught 7 fish! He was buzzing all the way home.

Great value for money and money well spent. We will be recommending Robbo to all our friends and family. Thank you again 👍😁"

Thank you

Tuesday 27th Oct'26
This is 10 year old Freddie, who'd popped down to Risby for his first ever try at fishing with his grandparents, Robin and Jane.
Freddie was having a coaching session with Robbo and following an overview of how to set up a waggler, plumb the depth and feed, Freddie was soon into a nice sized carp.
Sadly this was one of those occasions when the fish won the battle. Thankfully, Freddie wasn't too upset and soldiered on. Literally on his next cast, the float dipped and after a short battle, Robbo was sliding the net under the cracking skimmer pictured.
As is always the case, the smile says it all... well done Freddie !!

Risby Open Match on Folly

Despite the weather forecasts saying "no rain", the "Risby Match Lads" had to endure the odd shower but other than that, the weather was reasonable.

At the draw, there was the usual banter as certain individuals got their low number picks, as usual.
Geoff Boycott was 1st pick and elected to fish peg 21 again.
Matty Waites was 2nd pick and amazed the rest of the lads by choosing peg 18...this left Stephen Pulford, (Pully), the difficult dilemma of where to go...
NOT !!!
Pully jumped on peg 20, (again!!),
and subsequently emptied it with his 4th consecutive "Ton Plus" weight and his 4th consecutive win... to make matters worse, Pully kept showing his carp to Matty on peg 18, saying things like .. " this is what you could've caught"!!
Well drawn Mafffuuuuu !!??

Risby Saturday Open Match

The weather was pretty kind again for the Risby Match Lads and a decent day's sport was on the cards.
As in previous weeks, the match was run as a rover.
Stephen Pulford, (Pully), couldn't believe his luck when the lads below his 5th pick had left peg 20 still available.
Pully fished a tidy match and despite losing a few early carp he went on to win with a great weight of 110lbs. Pully had lots of stockies plus a few bigger carp including the cracking ghostie in the picture.
Geoff Boycott,,(Boyx), took 2nd place with 70lbs off peg 21.
Boyx probably had as many carp as Pully, but had a much smaller stamp of fish.

2nd G.Boycott, p.21, 70lbs.
3rd J.Moody, p.18, 64lbs.
