We have a carefully curated collection of family memorabilia, much of which still belongs to the Armstrong-Jones family. Our beautiful country house tells of the multi-generational love story of the Armstrong-Jones family. Each room individually designed around the person they represent with months of research going into each room. The many chapters of incredible people who loved Plas Dinas Country House, just like we do.

Sir Robert Armstrong-Jones, CBE JP DL FRCS FRCP FSA (born Robert Jones; 2 December 1857 – 30 January 1943) was a Welsh physician and psychiatrist. He was a leading psychologist in psychosomatic behaviour and supported the army in World War I.

He was educated at Porthmadog Grammar School and Grove Park School, Wrexham, going on to study medicine at University of Wales, Bangor, and St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Sir Robert then lectured at St Bartholomew's Hospital, and became consulting physician in mental diseases to the military forces at London and Aldershot.

In 1913, he assumed the additional surname of Armstrong, which had been the maiden name of his wife's grandmother, Jane née Armstrong, because he wanted to distinguish himself from another prominent Robert Jones of the time.

During World War I, he was designated a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps; he was knighted in the 1917 New Year Honours, and after the war he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his war service. He was appointed High Sheriff of Caernarvonshire for 1929. He was a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons.

Sir Robert married Margaret Roberts in 1893 and went on to welcome Ronald (Lord Snowdon's Father), Elaine and Gwendolen who you will all know as Lady Buckley.

He sadly passed in 1943 and sadly Margaret only survived a further 4 months after his passing.

Back in August 2024 we released the Sir Robert room, a room dedicated to his passion for psychology. A love story that is now back together here at Plas Dinas.

We appreciate the love and support we have received from you all throughout our nearly 7 year journey at Plas Dinas so far. We will keep striving to be the best we can possibly be, to keep working incredibly hard to offer the best experience we can and keep pushing forward to achieve the accolades that we dream of. Winning Best Hotel in Wales at The Good Hotel Guide Awards 2026, AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year 2025, Notable Wine Lists, Condé Nast Johansens Best Hotel for Romance in the UK 2025 and Visit Wales Best Hotel in Wales and Best Place to Eat in Wales 2025 are just some of the awards the team have been awarded in recent times. They work so hard and we are proud of each and every one of them.

Today we have had the pleasure of hosting a beautiful, intimate wedding celebration for Gwenno and Sam with outdoor ceremony and afternoon tea.

The weather is utterly glorious and is set to stay for a while too. Gwenno you look incredible and it has been an honour to work with you both. Congratulations from us all.

We would like to wish Kane a very happy birthday from all of the team here at Plas Dinas Country House.

Kane is a remarkably talented chef and has worked in some of the most highly regarded MICHELIN starred restaurants in the country such as the Ledbury, Hand and Flower and Moor Hall with Mark Birchall as Senior Sous. He then went on to hold the position of Head Chef at The Barn at Moor Hall for two years, gaining a MICHELIN star, before returning to Wales with his beautiful family and joining us here at The Gunroom Restaurant in 2025.

Lady Armstrong-Jones is one of our more recent designs at Plas Dinas Country House. It is an exquisite superior deluxe retreat that epitomizes relaxation, comfort, and elegance.

Following a sumptuous 9-course dining experience at The Gunroom Restaurant, guests can unwind in this beautifully appointed room with stunning bathroom design.

Lady Armstrong-Jones, a significant figure in our estate's history, was the mother of Ronald and the wife of Sir Robert, a distinguished physician and psychiatrist, whose adjacent bedroom is a poignant reminder of their enduring love. Despite their passing just four months apart, their legacy continues to inspire our country house. We are thrilled to share this stunning room with you in the coming seasons.

Each of our 11 beautiful bedrooms are individually designed to represent a member of the Armstrong-Jones family or a role they played. This beautiful room is designed after Ronald Armstrong-Jones QC.

Ronald is Lord Snowdon and Peregrine's Father. He played a huge role in the creation of the physical house that you see today. During the redesign we chose to use the centre of the house as a tribute to Ronald with our Major room and Judges room.

This is a beautiful classic room, smaller in size than our luxury, deluxe and superior deluxe rooms, but just as beautiful. It is even home to Ronald's actual ceremonial long wig.
