Harry Potter fans! 🧙 Did you know Malfoy Manor is in Derbyshire? 🤩🎬

The impressive Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield was transformed into Malfoy Manor in ‘The Deathly Hallows’ Harry Potter film 🏰✨

Built by Bess of Hardwick in the 1500s, this National Trust gem also doubled up as a royal palace for the ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ film starring Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan 👑

The hall is home to a unique collection of the finest 16th and early 17th-century needlework, furniture and original portraits, and is surrounded by acres of beautiful parkland 🌿

Last weekend we took opportunity of daily life being a bit quieter to explore some of our wider local area, and we headed for Pleasley Pit Country park.

This park connects to the local (predominantly) off road trails that connect our site to many of the surrounding local villages and beyond.

Whilst we didn’t bike there on this occasion, you definitely can if you fancy a day out! It takes approximately 50ish minutes to bike to the country park from our site and you will be rewarded with a lovely welcoming cafe, history and great views across the surrounding area! You may also spot some wildlife in the ponds and grasses. 🚲☕️⛏️

Alternatively, you can take a short drive of 15 minutes to enjoy the park! ☺️

On Friday 4th - Sunday 6th September, the Chatsworth Country Fair is taking place at Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Derbyshire.

The three day event is set to include a jam packed schedule including birds of prey, JC Balls dancing digger display, vintage cars, marching band, dog agility, working dog demonstrations, parachute displays plus much more!!

If you really want to make a day of it, it’s worth getting there from 6am to watch the hot air balloon display! It makes for some spectacular photos! (If early morning isn’t your thing, you can also catch the balloon ascent from 6.30 in the evening (except for Sunday evening!))

On Wednesday 12th August, we look forward to the return of the annual Ashover Show. This is a great local show which packs a full day of entertainment with a main ring including demonstrations and family entertainment, tractor parades, horse jumping and so much more! Expect all the traditional classes of a country show plus so much more!

It really is a great day out! We would recommend to anyone who is in the area on Wednesday to go and see!

The show ground is approximately 20 mins from our site but do expect queues of traffic as the day is very well attended! 🙈

Taking place just 20mins from our lovely site this weekend is a fantastic steam event- Cromford Steam Rally.

The event is known as Cromford Steam Rally but the event site is near Matlock.

Over the course of the weekend, the event provides lots of brilliant family entertainment- the JC Balls dancing diggers, steam engines, vintage trucks, tractors, stalls, working demonstrations plus evening entertainment too!!

With the forecast looking to be sunny, it will be a great weekend for all the family!

We have availability for this weekend so you could make a weekend of it or visit the event one day and use our site as a base to maybe explore Hardwick, Chesterfield or simply relax!? ☺️

Derbyshire’s premier steam and heritage show!

Following from our last post, the warm wetter weather had also made all the weeds grow, in addition to the grass. So this made another job for Jonathan. The public footpath stiles needed clearing to ensure they remain accessible.

As you can see from the photos, they were well overgrown but are definitely better for a good cut back - thanks Jonathan! 🤩

The recent rain and warm weather has certainly made for good growing conditions! Jonathan and the team managed to get all the fields cut and baled and to add to the mix, they managed to get the hay and haylage done too! 🚜🌾⚫️⚫️⚫️

Top work from all the team and hired help- we are very grateful 🙌🏼

To do all this work over a very short period of time has meant long days and very short nights🌛 The satisfaction knowing that you are prepared and made good use of the weather is worth it though ☀️👍🏻

It’s almost the weekend! 🙌🏼🎉

Whether you’re spending it at home or on pitch, have a great one!

It looks like Jonathan will be doing our second cut of silage - approximately 180 acres getting ready to be mown, tedding and baled ready for feeding our cows 🐄

Grass silage is a key ingredient in our cows diet, which they happily munch their way through and turn in to delicious milk 🥛

Our Lely robotic milking system milks the cows before the milk is then collected by Arla. Our milk then finds its way to Asda stores up and down the country in dairy products and as liquid milk. 🧀🍦

A freshly mown site, absorbing the evening sunshine but no one to appreciate it… where did everyone go?! 😩

If you want a small site, with only ever 4 neighbours at most, day long sunshine (weather permitting 🤪), the noise of song birds in the background, then we have you covered!
