There are a few very good reasons to spend some time at the farmhouse this November. Some involve wrapping up warm and heading outdoors, others involve making something to wrap up and gift this festive season.

For the crafty among you, there's chunky blanket knitting, Christmas wreath making and our three-night Christmas Craft Retreat, with five local makers sharing their skills.

If you'd rather be outdoors, join naturalist Ed Drewitt for a wildlife safari at dusk, or spend an evening looking up at the stars with Simon from Astro Thoughts.

Have a look through and see what takes your fancy. You can find all the details and booking information via the link in our bio.

Too early to start talking about Christmas? We hope not, because our festive menus are here.

Chef Aaron and the kitchen team have been busy putting together plenty of seasonal favourites, alongside a few things you might not expect.

There's sloe gin cured salmon, roast turkey with all the trimmings, wild mushroom risotto and, for those who take pudding seriously, a choice between Christmas pudding, mulled w**e trifle and artisan cheese.

Our festive set menu starts on 27 November, with two courses for £29.50 or three for £35.50. Available Monday to Friday at lunch and Sunday to Thursday evenings.

Throughout December, there's also our à la carte dinner menu, featuring dishes including Dorset crab, Raglan Black Mountain lamb and Tudor Farm tarte tatin.

Whether you're getting everyone together before Christmas or simply fancy a good dinner out, we'd love to see you.

Swipe through for the menus and start deciding what you're having.

Christmas at the farmhouse. All the traditions you love, with a few of our own thrown in.

Three nights here in Clearwell, on the edge of the Forest of Dean, from Christmas Eve through to the 27th December, with fireside evenings, homemade mince pies, good food and plenty of festive cheer.

Christmas Eve brings a visit to Clearwell Caves, followed by mulled w**e, mince pies and a brass quartet playing before dinner.

Christmas morning starts with Bucks Fizz at breakfast, followed by a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. In the evening, we'll keep things a little lighter with a relaxed dinner.

On Boxing Day, wrap up warm for a guided walk with Geoff, returning for afternoon tea. Later, there's Ch*****ne, a five-course tasting menu and entertainment to round off the celebrations.

We'd love you to spend Christmas with us this year.

Our three-night Christmas stay starts from £1,740. Swipe through for the details, or visit our website for the full itinerary.

Storm Austen seems to have made the decision for us. We're staying indoors.

A fire crackling in the hearth, something good coming out of the kitchen, a long bath and a book you've been meaning to finish.

There's plenty to explore on our doorstep, but when the weather has other ideas, the farmhouse is a very good place to be.

We hope you're all keeping warm and dry out there.

There's quite a bit of the Wye Valley on our breakfast table.

Coffee from Green Coffee Roasters in Cinderford, Welsh Farmhouse apple juice, bacon and sausages from Wye Valley Bacon & Sausage and honey from the Forest of Dean.

Add a pot of tea, fresh juice, toast with preserves that are all made in house and your choice of a full English, eggs Benedict or something lighter, and that's breakfast at the farmhouse.

You don't need to be staying with us to join us, either. Book a table and we'll put the kettle on.

A very short journey from garden to kitchen.

Our chef has been out in Colin’s Cottage Garden picking the last of the tomatoes, ready to turn them into soup.

One of the pleasures of this time of year is making the most of what’s still growing before the garden settles down for winter.

There’s been a bit of celebrating at the farmhouse.

We’ve officially been awarded four AA stars, and we’re feeling quite proud of ourselves.

It means a great deal to our team here in Clearwell. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes, from the early starts in the kitchen to the finishing touches in your rooms, and it’s lovely to see that work recognised.

A big thank you to everyone who works here, and to all of you who’ve stayed, eaten and spent time with us over the years.

We thought we’d mark the occasion with a little something for you, too.

Book a stay directly with us before 23 December 2026 and choose a complimentary treat for two. There’s English sparkling w**e, an alcohol-free cocktail, a sparkling afternoon tea upgrade or a midday checkout.

We’d love to have you here to raise a glass with us. After all, you’re part of what makes this place so special.

Autumn and winter at the farmhouse.

The fire is lit, the days are getting shorter and the farmhouse feels especially welcoming at this time of year.

Spend the day walking through the Forest of Dean, then come back to a warm fire, dinner made with the best of the season and perhaps a long soak in a roll-top bath.

Mornings are for coffee in bed, a leisurely breakfast and deciding whether to head out exploring again or take a wander through our 14 acres of gardens and grounds.

If a few days away are on your mind, we'd love to welcome you to Clearwell.
