It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Camilla Aston (née Minoprio), who died peacefully on Tuesday 9th June in Cheltenham, surrounded by her family, at the wonderful age of 93.

Many of you will remember Camilla and her late husband Peter as the owners of Kippford Holiday Park (now Coastal Kippford), which they lovingly ran from the 1970s until 1999.

Camilla was an enthusiastic gardener, sailor, horse rider and shooter with a strong Christian faith which touched many life’s. Perhaps her greatest legacy at Kippford was her remarkable vision for landscaping. With her extensive knowledge of planting and horticulture, she transformed what was once a rocky granite field into the beautiful, mature holiday park that so many families continue to enjoy today.

At the turn of the century, she handed the park over to her son, Robin Aston, before moving south to Ludlow and later Bledington in the Cotswolds.

While we mourn her loss, we are also celebrating a long life, well lived and filled with adventure, hard work, faith, family and friendship. Camilla leaves behind a lasting mark on Kippford and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Camilla’s life will be held on Monday 22nd at 1:00pm at Colvend Church, followed by a wake at Colvend Hall.

All who knew Camilla are warmly welcome to attend.

Rest in peace, Camilla. Your legacy lives on in the gardens, trees and landscapes you created, and in the memories of those whose lives you touched. As Christians, we take comfort in the hope of eternal life and give thanks for a life so richly and faithfully lived.

We’re delighted to be sponsoring this weekend’s Rocks & Wheels pump track cycling event in Dalbeattie! 🚴‍♂️🏁

What an incredible atmosphere, with talented riders showcasing their skills on the track and inspiring the next generation of cyclists. It’s fantastic to see so many competitors, supporters, volunteers and families coming together to celebrate cycling in Dumfries & Galloway. The event is part of the growing cycling scene centred around the new Rocks & Wheels pump track facility in the old school building, an incredible development and Dalbeattie’s renowned biking community.

At Coastal Kippford, we’re proud to support local events that bring visitors to our beautiful corner of Scotland and encourage outdoor adventure.
