Winter in Wales is something special ❄️
While the crowds thin out, Eryri gets quieter, wilder and even more beautiful. Frosty mornings, crisp trails and big skies over southern Snowdonia… and yes, the campfire feels even better when there's a chill in the air. 🔥
Things to do around MotoCamp Wales this winter:
🥾 Cadair Idris: the mountain on our doorstep. Winter light on the Pony Path or the Minffordd trail is unforgettable. Check conditions and kit up properly before you go.
🚵 Coed y Brenin: world-class mountain biking, just 10 minutes away. Forest trails ride brilliantly in cool weather.
🏍️ The TET: Trans Euro Trail sections on our doorstep make for proper adventure riding on crisp days.
🐾 The Mawddach Trail: flat, stunning and dog-friendly, following the estuary towards Barmouth.
🏰 Dolgellau: a handsome stone town within walking distance, with cosy cafés and pubs for when the weather turns.
📸 Waterfalls, frosty forest walks and moody skies: bring the camera, winter light here is magic.
And when you fancy a day out of the weather, there's plenty to do indoors too:
🧑🍳 Cooking workshops at Cookaway Cottage near Dolgellau: baking, preserving and more, if you fancy sharpening your campfire-adjacent skills.
🎨 MOMA Machynlleth: art exhibitions and events through the year, with a Book Club gathering in January.
🎬 The Magic Lantern Cinema in Tywyn: films, live music and open mic nights all year round.
🏊 Byw'n Iach Glan Wnion in Dolgellau: swimming and indoor sessions when you fancy a warm-up.
🏛️ Corris: the craft centre and cavern attractions are mostly seasonal, but some studios stay open in winter. Worth a shout before you set off.
Then come home to us: cosy lodges, warm pods, a big campfire, dogs welcome, and Rhonda's Bar for the evenings. ✨
Fancy a winter escape? Give us a shout and we'll get you booked in. 🏔️
Come for the trails, stay for the community.
