Christmas is coming to Coldharbour, and we want to celebrate with YOU! 🎄🥂

Think roaring fires, festive food, glasses raised and great company. Because there's something comforting about Christmas in a traditional country pub!

Come for festive feasts with friends, a family get-together or the work Christmas party where you can let your hair down - we can host them all!

Our Christmas menu is available from 25th November, and there's plenty to tempt you!

🎅🏻 Traditional turkey with ALL the trimmings. Because it’s not Christmas without it!

🍖 Slow-cooked lamb shank with creamy mash and red w**e jus. Sometimes an alternative Christmas dinner is just as delicious.

🌱 Creamy mushroom, spinach and chestnut parcel – for a tempting alternative and a great vegan option.

🍮 Traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce. Or perhaps a sticky toffee pudding because it’s always a treat!

And that's just a taste of what's waiting for you, with plenty of other dishes to choose from.

Here’s what’s special about a country pub once the temperature turns. 🍂

🔥 Roaring fires replace sun-soaked b**r gardens.

And to make those days even more delicious we've got a brand-new seasonal menu full of reasons to come in from the cold.

Imagine - you’ve been out enjoying the fresh Surrey Hills air, you've worked up an appetite and now you're ready to eat! You’ve got your drinks, bagged the best seats near the fire, and then the food arrives…

And you'll find it in the village of Coldharbour, in the heart of the Surrey Hills, where we have six individually decorated ensuite bedrooms, full of country character, waiting for you.

And your little escape could look like this…

🛏️ Check in and make yourself at home. Drop your bags and settle into your room. Comfy beds, tea and coffee on hand and nowhere else you need to be.

🥾 Get out and explore. Leith Hill and miles of beautiful
Surrey countryside are right on our doorstep. Take a walk, enjoy the views or head into nearby Dorking for a wander around the independent shops.

The great British pub - why we'd be lost without it. 🍻

Because a traditional pub is much more than a place for a pint. It's somewhere people come together, relax and make memories.

And that's exactly what we love about being part of village life.

🍺 A real pub with real ales, including those brewed in our very own microbrewery

🍽️ The food - really good food! Locally sourced wherever possible and cooked from scratch. Some traditions are worth keeping!

❤️ Our people. The regulars who pop in for a pint, the walkers who stop off after a muddy walk, families meeting for Sunday lunch and visitors joining us for the first time.

🥂 Making memories. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and those deliciously unplanned afternoons that turn into evenings. Pubs have a way of bringing people together.

🌿 The little things. A sunny afternoon in the b**r garden, a chat at the bar, dogs snoozing under tables, a roaring fire after a long walk, and even the occasional goat (it’s a true story! 🐐).

🏡 The heart of the village - familiar, welcoming and full of character. A place to sit back and take it all in.

GET READY… for a history lesson you’re actually going to enjoy. 👀

Because there’s a lot more to our little corner of Coldharbour than beautiful views, muddy boots and a great pub. 😉

There's history here too - so how many of these local facts do you know? 👇🏽

⛰️ The top of Leith Hill Tower is 1,029ft above sea level. Making it the highest point in South East England – and on a clear day you can see all the way from the English Channel in the south to London. Apparently you can even see the clock face of Big Ben! 🤯

🪱 Charles Darwin carried out experiments with worms here! Darwin regularly visited his sister Caroline Wedgewood at Leith Hill Place and carried out experiments in the grounds. His famous ‘worm stone’ studies showed how earthworms bury objects – and the stone is still there today.

🎼 One of Britain’s greatest composers grew up here. Ralph Vaughan Williams spent his childhood at Leith Hill Place, with the landscape inspiring his music, including _The Lark Ascending_. He eventually inherited the house and estate and gave them to the National Trust in 1944.

🌺 Even the rhododendrons hold history here. The Rhododendron Wood was created in the late 1800s by Caroline Wedgwood – a keen botanist and Charles Darwin's eldest sister – with rhododendrons and azaleas including specimens originally brought over from Asia.

🌳 A huge tulip tree in the parkland at Leith Hill Place is thought to be one of the oldest known specimens in the country growing there for 250 years. It was already there when Charles Darwin was visiting – and he may well have admired it too!

🪦 There’s a man buried under Leith Hill Tower – yes, really! Richard Hull built the tower in the 1760s and requested that he be buried beneath it when he died. His wish was granted following his death in 1772.

And all of this is just up the road from us.

So come to Coldharbour and explore the history, because our corner of the Surrey Hills has some VERY good stories to tell.

GET READY… to earn your pint this weekend. 🍺🥾

Because there are few better places to get outside than the Surrey Hills.

And here in Coldharbour, we’ve got some of the best of it right on our doorstep – woodland, trails, hills, country lanes and, of course, Leith Hill.

So, how are you getting active?

🥾 WALK
Pull on your boots and take on the trails. Climb Leith Hill, follow part of the Greensand Way or disappear into the woodland for a couple of hours.

🏃 RUN
Swap the treadmill for hills, woodland and country trails. Go for a gentle jog or embrace the muddy inclines and make those legs work a little harder.

🚴 RIDE
Road bike or mountain bike - the Surrey Hills are brilliant on two wheels, with climbs, country lanes, bridleways and some seriously good scenery along the way.

🐕 WANDER
Because getting active doesn't have to mean Strava or smashing a personal best. Bring the dog, pick a path and go for a good old-fashioned walk.

No matter where your adventure takes you, The Plough Inn is the perfect place to start or finish!

And if you’re heading out on a Saturday morning then fuel up first with breakfast, we’re serving up between 8am–10.45am.

Have you ever thought about what later life looks like for you? We mean, really?

You spend a lot of time planning for the next holiday, the next house, car, or what you're doing at the weekend. But planning for later life? It’s just too easy to put off.

But knowing what you want – and having the right legal arrangements in place to support those wishes – can make such a big difference to you and your family.

So on Friday, we're heading to The Later Living Show in Leatherhead, a free community event bringing together practical advice, information and local services to help people plan for and enjoy later life.

And we're not just going along for the free coffee...! ☕

At 1pm, we’ll be giving a talk about some of the legal aspects of later life things worth thinking about, and the steps you can take now to make life easier for you and the people you care about.

We'll also be there throughout the day, so if you've been meaning to ask someone about wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney or planning ahead, come and find us. Questions are very welcome!

There's plenty more happening throughout the day too, with talks, activities, local organisations to meet, plus lunch and refreshments.

We should say hello - because almost 200 of you have joined us since last month! 👋🏾

Welcome to The Plough Inn, Coldharbour – a country pub nestled in the foothills of the Surrey Hills, just a stone’s throw from Leith Hill.

And if you’ve only just found us, there’s quite a lot going on here…

🍺 We’re a real village pub, serving local ales alongside good food and a warm welcome.

🍳 We now serve Saturday breakfast from 8am–10.45am – and you don’t need to be staying with us to tuck in.

🍔 Thursday night means Burger Night – choose any burger, served with a pint of b**r, glass of w**e or soft drink, for £19.95.

🍽️ Sundays are for roasts, obviously. But there are plenty of other delicious options on the menu too.

🛏️ We have six ensuite bedrooms, so you can turn your trip to the Surrey Hills into an easy overnight stay.

🍻 We have our own microbrewery, and you can sample some of the b**rs from behind the bar.

🛍️ And then there’s our village shop next to the pub and selling local goods and delicious treats.

🥂 Our Barn is available for hire too – for weddings, parties, celebrations, meetings and events.

Then there’s the rather lovely Surrey Hills right outside our door. Walk Leith Hill, cycle the lanes, bring the dog, get muddy… and come and see us along the way.

And here? Expect delicious food, great b**r, a bit of village life, plenty of what's happening at the pub and lots of reasons to come and enjoy everything a traditional country pub has to offer.
