Many waders depend upon predator management in order to breed productively, whether that’s lethal control of foxes and crows or electric fences built to protect nests from badgers.
It’s hard to overstate the importance of this work, but when it comes to promoting the practical delivery of predator management, Working For Waders need more information on what’s happening - not only across Scotland, but also the wider UK.
It's widely understood that gamekeepers do excellent work to support waders through managing predation, but only 10% of Scotland is looked after by gamekeepers. Away from landscapes where full-time professionals manage predation, there's no clear idea of who is doing what, how they’re doing it and how it’s being funded.
As a precursor to a bigger project on finding support and funding for predator management, Working for Waders is running a short survey to help answer some questions on what’s good, what’s bad and what’s missing from this work.
If you have five minutes to add your story, please take the time - responses are not shared outside this group and feedback is enormously valued!
