Local Quandary Solved.........

Lot's of speculation as to why Dunham Bridge is closed / open / workers on strike / one lane open / huge q's over the last few days.

It's been confirmed that because of roadworks on the A1133 near Torksey the official diversion is over Dunham Bridge. So they cannot charge the toll.

There’s more to the story of Clumber Park than grand buildings, sweeping landscapes and the Dukes who once called it home.

As part of Heritage Open Days, we’re turning our attention to the ordinary working people who cared for this extraordinary estate.

On Friday 18 September, admission to Clumber Park is free for everyone. As you explore the park, look out for our costumed interpreters and discover what life was like for the housekeepers, stableboys, chauffeurs and gardeners who helped keep Clumber running.

You can also delve a little deeper with a programme of fascinating 30-minute talks throughout the day, from the arrival of the motor car at Clumber to life in the walled kitchen garden, the stable staff and the lost mansion.

And at the site of the historic mansion, the University of Nottingham’s Manuscripts and Special Collections team will be sharing what the archives can reveal about those that worked here.

To say the weather has been mad this year would be an understatement! Wet & cold Spring, so our flowers took weeks to get going.

The mower has probably done 10 hours this year! Just mind boggling. Most of May and June we are mowing twice a week..... Not this year.

Blackberry's for making Jam & Apple and Blackberry pie are now ready for harvest.... In August! - It's normally mid September. What is going on.

They are soooooo tasty tho. Bring a Tupperware container and get picking!
