Who has already started the family WhatsApp conversation for 2027?

We sleep up to 18 in 7 bedrooms, with space to eat, relax and celebrate together — right here in Nottinghamshire, close to the A1 and handy when everyone is travelling from different directions.

And if you book directly, you can talk to us before you commit and ask all those slightly awkward questions that matter when you’re organising a big group.

There’s been rather a lot of talk about washing up and holiday lets recently...

So here’s another question.

If we charge a cleaning fee, what does it actually pay for?

At Diamond House we’re not turning around a little cottage.

There are 7 bedrooms, up to 18 guests, 4 bathrooms, two lounges, the kitchen, the school hall, floors, bins, beds, bathrooms, towels and all the little things that need resetting before the next family arrives.

That’s what the cleaning fee contributes towards.

We absolutely don’t expect guests to “clean the house”.

We do, however, rather appreciate finding the kitchen reasonably tidy and the house treated as someone’s home rather than a hotel corridor after a rugby tour.

There’s a difference.

And I suspect most guests understand that perfectly well!

Thank you to the many, many guests who have actually stayed, looked after our home and left it as they found it!

Friday: everyone arrives.
Saturday: you finally have everyone together.
Sunday: “Has anyone seen my charger?”

And suddenly you’re packing the cars again.

We’ve been looking very closely at how people actually use Diamond House, and it’s one of the reasons some of our busier 2027 weekends will have a 3-night minimum stay.

Not because we think everybody wants a longer holiday.

But because when 12, 15 or 18 people have travelled from different parts of the country, one proper day together can disappear remarkably quickly.

An extra night gives you time to linger over breakfast, use the garden, go for a walk, open another bottle… and not spend Sunday morning watching the clock.

If you really can't stay until Monday, don't forget to get in touch and request a late checkout (£150 per group)

Ever wondered how on earth your'e supposed to get everyone together for Grannie's birthday?
One lot coming down from Yorkshire.
Someone else up from London.
Another branch of the family somewhere in between.

Before you’ve even thought about bedrooms, dinner or who’s bringing the birthday cake… somebody has to choose where everyone is going to meet.

That’s one of the reasons Diamond House works so well for family get-togethers.

We’re in Nottinghamshire, close to the A1, so for lots of families we’re less about “going away somewhere” and more about finding a place where everyone can actually get together.

Then, once you’ve arrived, there are 7 bedrooms, space for up to 18, a huge garden and one very big dining room waiting for you.

Airbnb has been in the news again this week…

New rules. New restrictions. Lots of opinions.

And it got me thinking about what booking direct really means.

It isn’t just about price.

When you book Diamond House directly, you’re booking with us.

You can ask which bedroom works best for Grandma, whether the garden really is that big, or tell us why 15 of you are trying to get together in the first place.

No platform sitting in the middle.

Because a weekend with 12, 15 or 18 people is rarely “just a booking”.

It’s a birthday. A reunion. Three generations together.

And we rather like keeping that personal.

People have been gathering in this building since 1684.
Diamond House started life as a village school, and more than three centuries later it’s still doing what it does best — bringing people together.
Different reason. Different century.
But still plenty of noise, food, stories and people filling the rooms.
