From Autumnal landscapes at their most colourful to destinations offering milder temperatures for exploring and cities celebrating seasonal festivals, November has plenty to tempt travellers. Here are some of our favourite places to visit during this month. 🍂

🇯🇵 Kyoto, Japan: Expect peak Autumnal foliage (koyo), comfortable touring weather, and atmospheric events like evening illuminations at temples and gardens.

🇲🇽 Mexico: November says goodbye to the rainy, hurricane seasons and hello to ideal weather, smaller crowds, and of course, fun cultural festivals like Dia de los Mu***os (October 31st - November 2nd).

🇨🇿 Prague, Czech Republic: A peaceful, budget-friendly atmosphere. Explore major landmarks and experience events such as St Martin's Day (November 11th) and the Velvet Revolution Anniversary where the historic milestone is marked with candlelit tributes, concerts, and public discussions.

🇮🇸 Iceland: Long nights create prime conditions for spotting aurora borealis dancing across the city. November also marks the full opening of natural blue-crystal ice caves inside glaciers!

🇮🇨 Canary Islands: Expect warm spring-like weather while avoiding heavy crowds. It's a great time of year for volcanic hiking and exploring beaches.

🇹🇭 Thailand: A much drier season with comfortable temperatures & major cultural festivals to enjoy like the sky lantern festival (Yi Peng). ✨

Save this for your next November getaway!

Escape to the mountains this winter and stay at this dreamy Austrian Alpine retreat. ❄️ 🗻

Days might begin with time in the spa before heading outdoors for horse riding or an alpaca trek at the miniGUT farm, where younger guests can also meet and feed the animals. With a dedicated kids’ club, two games rooms and an array of modern wellness facilities, there’s plenty to discover for every generation.

Our Guru, Stephanie Reed, enjoyed a wonderful stay at Naturhotel earlier this year and says, "Naturhotel Forsthofgut has to be one of the most family-friendly luxury resorts around. Set an hour's drive from Salzburg in the village of Leogang, the hotel is a destination in itself, and you'll find it hard to leave."

Tucked into the dramatic mountain landscapes of Leh, Dolkhar Ladakh offers a thoughtful take on Himalayan luxury, where traditional craftsmanship and a deep sense of place take centre stage. ✨️

Earth-built architecture and locally sourced materials bring warmth and texture to its intimate interiors, while the predominantly plant-based restaurant pairs Ladakhi flavours with modern European influences. Beyond the guest rooms, a spa with sauna and steam room offers a welcome retreat, and peaceful garden spaces invite moments of calm beneath the mountains. 🏔️

Venture into Leh’s historic lanes and colourful bazaars, discover nearby monasteries, or head to Shanti Stupa for sweeping views of the Himalayan peaks at sunset.

For a stay that connects contemporary comfort with the character and culture of Ladakh, Dolkhar is a memorable find.

"The road to Solo Palacio winds, up and up, along dramatic mountainsides, past dark green forests and through quiet hill villages. On clear days, craggy peaks rise against distant blue skies; when the mist descends, the twists and turns are enveloped in cloud and only the low, verdant hills remain visible. 🏔️

Long home to a powerful Asturian family whose crest still faces the entrance to the grounds, Solo Palacio comes into view at the last moment. Perched on the edge of a small hamlet, this collection of wood and stone buildings dates back five centuries. Painstakingly preserved by a visionary team, the ancient manor house reopened as a sensational hotel in mid-2023.

Arriving at Solo Palacio is, in many ways, like stepping back in time. A stilted panera - traditionally used for storing grain - sits between terracotta-tiled buildings, worn flagstones frame fragrant lavender beds, and exposed beams hold bedroom ceilings aloft. Understated spaces feel rustic yet elegant, with soft linens, carved wooden armchairs, big photography books and fireplaces just waiting to be lit.

In a world which whirls endlessly, this exquisite hideaway promises a rare moment of calm." 🌄 ✨️

A fresh makeover has brought new life to one of Yorkshire’s most characterful coaching inns. 🍃

Inside, a fire-warmed sitting room, deep blue bar and elegant dining room set the scene, while the menu elevates pub classics with dishes such as steak with salsa brava and cod and mussel bouillabaisse. Upstairs, the bedrooms have a country house feel, with vintage furniture, velvet headboards and, in some rooms, four-poster beds.

In Malton, a market town proud of its reputation as Yorkshire’s food capital, The Talbot is a characterful base for exploring the town’s independent food scene and the surrounding countryside.

Helen's Hot Tips: Combine your visit with a Saturday for the weekly market and monthly artisan market. And if you like your wh**ky, seek out the Library Bar, tucked away above McMillans w**e and spirits merchant on Market Place; over 200 to sample.

Set in the heart of Jodhpur, Daspan House brings a fresh perspective to heritage hospitality. Housed in a 1921 residence, this characterful boutique hotel pairs individually styled rooms and leafy garden courtyards with a rooftop pool overlooking the city. 🌇

Spend the day discovering Jodhpur’s bustling markets and the grandeur of Mehrangarh Fort, before returning to Old Loco for regional Marwari flavours and cocktails with a twist. A heritage hideaway with a distinctive sense of place, and an inviting base from which to discover Rajasthan.

Somewhere between the bustle of the A1(M) and the rolling countryside of County Durham, Rockliffe feels like a world of its own. 🌿

Drive through the gates, follow the avenue of trees and suddenly the pace changes. Behind the grand Georgian and Victorian hall lies 375 acres of parkland, a championship golf course, a vast spa and an impressive collection of places to eat and drink.

At the heart of it all is ATLAS, where James and Maria Close bring flavours from around the world to the tasting menu, while Ro serves seasonally inspired cocktails and the Morning Room makes a rather compelling case for afternoon tea.

As our reviewer Helen Pickles puts it, Rockliffe Hall is a place where “shoulders relax, brain stops whirring, and, frankly, you forget where you are.” ✨

A Greek resort with a village at its heart. 🇬🇷

For our latest hotel review, Rebecca Hall checked into Lesante Cape on Zante’s eastern coast, where stone arches, olive trees and wooden pergolas are arranged around a traditional-style village square, complete with a kafenio, taverna, small shop and folklore museum.

Rebecca stayed in a Signature Sea View Pool Suite, with a private terrace and 20sqm pool, and particularly loved the illuminated walkways over the water after dark, the spa’s heated indoor-outdoor pool and the sense of character throughout the property.

Then there’s the food. At Novita, her grilled sea bass with wild greens and freshly mashed potato was a particular highlight. 🐟
