We close tomorrow. We open again on Friday 26 March 2027.

Between now and then, three things.

Next year's pitches are 20% off if you book online before 30 November, with the code EARLY20. Pitches only, online only.

Seasonal pitches for next year are full. If you'd like to be on the list for anything that comes free once the season's finished, email [email protected] and ask for an application form.

And 2027 is open for booking online all winter, so if you already know your dates, foresterseat.co.uk is where they are.

Last weekend of the season.

We close on Sunday. If you're here this weekend, you've got the last of it.

Sinclair's Kitchen is run by Sinclair's, not by us, so for their hours this weekend ring them on 01307 818080.

And thank you, all of you, for the season. Pitches, tents, huts, the lot. We'll have the gates shut by Sunday night and the kettle on again in March.

Five routes and the short walk, all from our gate, none of them needing the car.

Forfar: 3 miles. 10 minutes by bike, 45 on foot.
Letham: 4.4 miles. 30 minutes by bike the quiet way, about an hour and a quarter on foot the hard way.
Balgavies Loch: 2.6 miles. 15 minutes by bike.
Pitmuies Gardens: 5 miles. 25 minutes by bike.
Friockheim: 6.4 miles. 30 minutes by bike.
Murton Nature Reserve: about a 10-minute walk.

Friockheim, the long one.

Route five, and the furthest of the five: 6.4 miles along the A932, about 30 minutes on a bike. It's the A932, so bikes, not boots.

At the far end there's a Spar shop that has everything, and a couple of bars. If you've forgotten something, or you fancy a pint you've earned, this is the run.

Pitmuies Gardens, by bike.

Route four. Five miles from our gate and about 25 minutes on a bike. This one is a bike run, not a walk; it's not a road I'd send you along on foot.

What's at the other end is walled fruit and vegetable gardens, with apple and pear trees that have been joined. A quiet road out, a wall to lean the bike on, and the park to come back to.

Fifteen minutes to Balgavies Loch.

Route three, and this one is a bike run rather than a walk. Most of these roads aren't ones I'd send a rambler along, but on two wheels it's 2.6 miles from our gate and about a quarter of an hour.

Balgavies Loch is a lowland nature reserve managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. There are quiet paths and bird hides, and with the geese going over the park for weeks now, late October is when I'd take the binoculars.

Superhost again.

Airbnb confirmed it on the 8th: another quarter in a row. The numbers behind it are 17 stays, no cancellations, a 4.8 average rating and a 100% response rate.

The numbers are nice. The reviews are what I actually read. This one is from a guest who stayed in Wallis in July:

"I had an amazing time staying in Wallis! So comfortable and cozy with a great view! It had everything you needed including a great shower and comfortable bed. Great location to explore Angus!"

Wallis is one of the two huts where dogs stay free, if that matters to you. All five huts are on foresterseat.co.uk.

Letham, two ways.

On foot, this is the walkers' one. Turn right out of the park gates and straight up the hill. It's 4.4 miles, straight up, and I won't pretend it's a stroll. It's a walkers' walk in nature, and it earns the tea at the end.

On a bike, don't go that way. The hill is too steep and bumpy to ride up from here. Take the road into Forfar instead, hug the golf course round, up to Kingsmuir and out the Dunnichen Road. Quietest roads you'll find, and about 30 minutes.

Either way there's a bar, a baker and a tea room waiting for you in Letham, which is reason enough.

The first one I send everyone on is Forfar.

Three miles from our gate. Ten minutes on a bike by the road. About 45 on foot along Chester's walk, round the golf course and onto the pavement into town. It's the closest of the routes from here and the most attractive, which is why it's the one to start with.

I'm doing a short run of these over the next week or so, one route per post, for the walkers and cyclists among you. Every one of them starts at the park gate and none of them needs the car.

If you've walked it or ridden it, tell me how long it took you. I'll compare notes.
