📣 Calling all mountain lovers 🏔️🥰

Don't miss the The Munro Society’s touring exhibition at our Visitor Centre for the next four weeks 👇👇

📆 Tues 20 Oct to Sat 14 Nov - FREE entry

🕣 Open daily - 10am to 4pm

It charts the life of Sir Hugh Munro and his mission to list Scotland’s peaks over 3,000ft (914m) ⛰️🚶🥾

You'll discover the evolution of hillwalking and climbing in Scotland - from its 19th century origins to Munro ‘bagging’ today.

We're delighted to host this in Glencoe National Nature Reserve NTS as we care for EIGHT very popular Munros:

🏔️ Stob Coire Raineach (925m) & Stob Dubh (958m) - the Buachaille Etive Beag Munros

⛰️ Stob Dearg (1,022m) & Stob na Bròige (956m) - the Buachaille Etive Mòr Munros

🏔️ Meall Dearg (952m) & Sgòrr nam Fiannaidh (967m) - the Aonach Eagach Munros

⛰️ Bidean nam Bian (1150m) & Stob Coire Sgreamhach (1072m) - the Bidean Munros

How many of them have you climbed and do you have a favourite?! 🤔

Glen Coe was one of the earliest focal points for mountaineering in Scotland and our charity was only able to acquire the Glen back in the 1930s thanks to donations from hundreds of hillwalkers, alongside an anonymous contribution from then Chair of the Scottish Mountaineering Club, Percy Unna) 💚🙏

The popularity of our peaks has grown a wee bit since then and it's fascinating to see the changing face of hillwalking in this informative exhibition. We wonder what Unna would make of it all?!

Today, our role is to help minimise and contain the impact hundreds of thousands of walking boots can have on our sensitive mountain habitats with over 60km of upland paths here. Every penny you spend at our Visitor Centre helps in this task...

So pop along, enjoy the FREE exhibition and treat yourself in the cafe or shop on your way out 😁

A great place to visit when exploring the area!

The delightful Crafts & Things Coffee Shop and gift shop has been part of the fabric of Glencoe for almost 60 years. This family run shop was once a cow byre, long since converted to a home for delicious food and drink, and is also an Alladin’s cave of treasures that celebrate the best of Scottish tradition and creativity. You’ll discover beautiful crafts, gifts, works of art, stoneware, glass, toys, clothing and much more, all sourced from leading Scottish brands and local artists and craftspeople.

Crafts and Things can be found next to the A82 as it passes the village of Glencoe. There’s plenty of parking space and the shop is open every day from 09:30 to 17:00. So, why not come in, enjoy a coffee and cake, or something more substantial, and then browse the fantastic range of gifts.

The Scottish Government and The Highland Council are proposing the introduction of a "Visitor Levy'.

For Calluna customers this would mean £5 extra a night on an apartment.

This will apply to anyone paying to stay in accommodation, with a few exceptions, within The Highlands.

The consultation is open to anyone to complete, absolutely anyone! We would encourage you to take the time to have your say, and be most appreciative if you did.

📆 Due to popular demand we have extended our Summer Exhibition, A Street Through Time.

🏤 The exhibition explores the last 100 years of Fort William High Street and shares stories about places that have disappeared from our community; and of those that still thrive in the heart of our town.

It's always good to receive reviews from our customers :-)

Sadly what Steve points out in his review is a real problem, rising costs across the board mean lots of accommodation providers pass their costs directly onto the customers and price them out of a holiday in Fort William.

We do our very best to keep our prices steady where we can, or only implement small rises, without jeopardising our business.
