📆🍂 In the autumn of 1905, Beatrix Potter took an exciting step that would shape both her life and her stories. 🍂📆

🐰Using the profits from The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, she purchased her first farm, the 17th-century Hill Top Farm in Near Sawrey, at the heart of the Lake District.

📚 The house, farm and surrounding countryside would go on to inspire many of her most beloved tales.

🐑 Following the death of Norman Warne, Beatrix devoted herself to farming while continuing to create her treasured ‘little books’. Hill Top became the setting and inspiration for several stories, including The Tale of Tom Kitten and The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, with many of the locations still recognisable today.

Tucked away in the little village of Near Sawrey, Sawrey House has been part of this beautiful corner of the Lake District since the 1830s.

Originally built for a vicar, this handsome country house has watched village life unfold for almost two centuries.

Long before visitors arrived with walking boots and cameras, this was a quieter world of farming, village traditions and life shaped by the changing seasons.

And this is no ordinary village.

Just a short walk away is Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter. It was here, among the lanes, cottages and rolling countryside, that she found inspiration for many of her much-loved stories.

The landscape that captured her imagination is still here today. The waters of Esthwaite, the woodland of Grizedale and the magnificent fells beyond remain a reminder of just how special this part of the world is.
