Autumn weekends are nearly here… and we know where we’d spend the first one. 🍂

Days down by the River Wye, woodland walks as the leaves start to turn, evenings around the fire and then back up into the treetops when it’s time to get cosy.

Well, this is a rather lovely way to start September.

By the Wye has been named one of the Nation’s Favourite Businesses 2026 by Small Business Saturday UK.

Six years ago, By the Wye began with an idea to create somewhere that felt different from the busy holiday parks we’d become used to. Somewhere smaller, more peaceful and immersed in nature, while still having all those little luxuries that make going away feel special.

Today, we’re incredibly proud to see By the Wye recognised for not only what we’ve created here beside the River Wye, but our commitment to sustainable tourism and supporting our local community, independent businesses and makers.

A pretty special moment for our little patch of woodland.

Thank you to everyone who’s stayed, visited, eaten, recommended us or simply followed along. You’ve all been part of it.

You know that feeling when you arrive somewhere and immediately think… yep, we’re not going anywhere. 🌿

That’s kind of the point at By the Wye.

There’s food and coffee at the Treehouse Café, the river at the bottom of the site, Hay-on-Wye just a short walk away and your own little spot tucked up amongst the trees.

But equally, you could do absolutely none of it.

Stay in your comfies. Sit on the deck for far too long. Open a bottle. Light the fire. Watch the trees. Wonder how it’s somehow already 7pm.

Come for the weekend. See where it takes you.

Coming to Hay-on-Wye for the Tour of Britain? 🚴‍♀️ Save this little spot for when you fancy a break from the crowds.

Just a few minutes walk from town, head into the trees and you’ll find the cafe 🌿 Grab a drink, something to eat, find a spot in the big open garden, wander through the woodland or cool your feet in the River Wye.

And if you get down here and decide you’re not quite ready to go home…you could always check availability for one of our treetop safari tents.
