The stroll up to the beach… if you know, you know 💙

And if you don’t, perhaps it’s time to book a stay at Penty Myghal and find out for yourself 😊

One of my favourite things about Porthleven is that within just a few minutes of leaving the cottage, you can be wandering down towards the sea, catching that first glimpse of the beach, the glistening sea & the view down to the Lizard.

It was high tide when I visited today and I can confirm that the sand is definitely back! In fact, there may even be a little more than strictly necessary 😆

The upside? It’s now an even shorter walk down the slipway and onto the beach 🏖️

Who else loves that moment when the sea first comes into view on holiday? 🌊🩵

One of the things I love most about Porthleven is that there is always something new to discover, and the Old Lifeboat House has to be one of the most unique exhibition spaces anywhere 🎨💙

Perched right on the rocks at the entrance to the harbour, this former lifeboat station now hosts a wonderful programme of ever-changing art exhibitions, workshops and events throughout the year. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply enjoy exploring local creativity, it’s well worth popping in to see what’s on.

No two visits are ever quite the same, making it one of those places that rewards repeat visits whenever you’re in the village.

If you’re planning a stay at Penty Myghal and would like to see what’s on during your visit, click through to the Old Lifeboat House page for their latest exhibitions and events.

Have you visited before? I’d love to hear what you’ve discovered there 🩵

One of the highlights of the Cornish calendar is almost here 🎭🔥

The Golowan Festival returns to Penzance, bringing with it music, dancing, street entertainment, colourful processions and a wonderful community atmosphere.

Inspired by ancient midsummer celebrations, Golowan has become one of Cornwall’s most vibrant festivals, attracting visitors from across the county and beyond.

The spectacular Mazey Day parade on 27th June is always a favourite, with giant creations, costumes and performers filling the streets, while Quay Fair Day on 28th and the iconic evening processions ensure there’s something to enjoy throughout the festival.

Best of all, Penzance is just a short drive or bus ride from Penty Myghal, making it easy for guests to experience one of Cornwall’s most unique celebrations before returning to the peace and comfort of Porthleven afterwards 💙

I’ve seen a few discussions recently about the difference between dog-friendly and dog-tolerant accommodation, and it got me thinking about what that means at Penty Myghal 🐾

For me, being dog-friendly means welcoming dogs as part of the family.

At Penty Myghal, dogs are welcome throughout the cottage and are free to join you in every room. They’re welcome on the sofa and outdoor furniture too, although I do ask that throws are used to help keep everything clean and comfortable for future guests.

The one exception is the beds. Not all of our guests have pets, so to ensure everyone enjoys the same high standards of cleanliness and comfort, I ask that dogs sleep on their own beds. They’re more than welcome to sleep in the bedroom with you if they prefer not to be apart from their humans 🩵

I hope that helps clarify our position and reassures guests that dogs are very much welcome at Penty Myghal.

In fact, our Head of Marketing has asked me to remind everyone that all four-legged guests stay for free & will find bowls, a blanket, poo bags and treats waiting for them on arrival 🐶

Because holidays are better when the whole family can come along 💙

Very excited to say sawadee kha to Talay Thai Kitchen as they open their doors in Porthleven - if you’ve visited their restaurant in St Ives you’ll already know their authentic Thai food & fabulous cocktails - if not you are in for a treat whether you eat in with views across the harbour or treat yourself to a cheeky takeaway 💗

Love Cornwall in the shoulder months? 💙

Those glorious weeks when the sea is still warm, the sun is shining, the coast paths are quieter and there's no need to prebook your favourite harbour restaurant ☀️🌊

If that's your idea of the perfect holiday, please don't wait too long to book for 2027.

I now have just one week remaining in June 2027 and one week remaining in September 2027 at Penty Myghal 🩵

The good news is that you can secure your stay with just a 25% deposit, with the balance not due until 6 weeks before arrival.

Many of our guests return year after year, and shoulder season has always been one of the most popular times to visit Porthleven.

Don't miss out on your perfect Cornish escape — book today and start counting down to sea views, harbour strolls and slower days by the coast 🏡🌊🐾
