🍂 The weather has definitely turned… and today I’ve been batch cooking! 🍂

Today’s little autumn cooking session has resulted in:

🥕 Veggie bolognese
🍂 Autumn vegetable soup
🌿 Split pea & spinach curry

There’s something about cooler days that makes me want to get the big pans out, fill the kitchen with lovely smells & have a freezer full of comforting food ready to go! 🥰

And it got me thinking about Penty Myghal…

Yes, Porthleven has some fantastic cafés, pubs & restaurants just a couple of minutes from the cottage — but if you don’t fancy going out every night, you really can make yourself at home.

The kitchen is fully equipped, so you can cook up a proper meal, make a lazy breakfast, pack a picnic for the coast path or simply stick the kettle on and settle down with a cuppa. ☕️

Because sometimes a holiday is about exploring Cornwall…

…and sometimes it’s about staying in, cooking something delicious & putting your feet up. 💙

We’re heading into big wave season. 🌊

There’s something rather spectacular about watching the Atlantic come alive…

And the best bit? You can walk back to Penty Myghal & light the wood burner afterwards or pop into the Atlantic or Ship Inn and watch the storm from somewhere considerably warmer! 😂🔥

Can I let you into a little secret? I love Cornwall in November. 🩵

The summer crowds have gone, the beaches are often almost empty, the waves are getting bigger, the coastal paths are beautifully wild and there is something rather lovely about finding a cosy pub with a roaring fire after a windswept walk.

And then you get to come back to Penty Myghal, light the wood burner, put your feet up, watch Netflix, play a game or curl up with a book. 🔥📚

November might not be the first month you think of for a Cornish break… but perhaps it should be. 😉

And I still have November dates available…

Do you follow Lucy Claire Illustration? I love her illustrations celebrating everything we love & this one is celebrating the “ber” months - September, October, November & December… the “BER” months are here! 🥰

And while summer might be coming to an end, I think Cornwall is only just getting started.

September brings warm seas, quieter beaches and that lovely feeling that summer is still hanging on. ☀️

October brings autumn colours, crisp coastal walks and some of the most beautiful sunsets. 🍂🌅

November is when the Atlantic starts to show us what it’s made of — big waves, wild walks and cosy pubs. 🌊🔥

And then there’s December… Christmas lights, festive cheer, winter walks and coming back to Penty Myghal to light the wood burner and get cosy. 🎄🔥

So don’t put Cornwall away with your summer clothes!

🧽 Sometimes a changeover is all about cleaning, plumping cushions & getting our lovely cottage ready to welcome new guests…

…and sometimes it’s a quick bit of maintenance you weren’t expecting! 😂🔧

There’s always something to do behind the scenes at Penty Myghal, and not all of it is quite as glamorous as fresh flowers, fluffy towels and beautifully made beds!

But whatever the job, it’s all part of making sure that when you arrive, everything is just as it should be. 🩵

Today’s unexpected job was bubbled & flaking paint above the shower in the bathroom 🚿

All sorted and ready for our next guests! 🏡✨

🩵 Some lovely words from last week’s guests…

I always love hearing what guests think of Penty Myghal, but this review from last week really did make me smile.

They’ve been visiting Porthleven and the surrounding area for years, but apparently they’ve finally discovered their favourite place to stay! 🥰

They loved the cottage, the beds, having two bathrooms, the terrace, the location and — always a bonus in Porthleven — the parking space!

And the best bit…

They’re hoping to come back next summer! 🥰

It’s incredibly special when guests choose to return, particularly when there are so many wonderful places to stay in Cornwall.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback — and I’ll be keeping everything crossed that I can squeeze you in next summer! 🩵

Popped into Lindy Lou Gifts on Friday & bumped into Paul who creates these charity poo bag holders - they cost £6 each and every penny is divided between the Porthleven Moors children’s park (opposite Penty Myghal) and childrenshospicesw - so now Head of Marketing and his cousin both have personalised poo bag holders 🐾

We did it! 1,000 followers! 🥂🩵

When I started sharing Penty Myghal, I honestly never imagined that 1,000 people would choose to follow along with my little corner of Cornwall.

Thank you to everyone who follows, likes, comments, shares my posts, recommends Penty Myghal to friends and family, books a stay or simply enjoys seeing a little bit of Porthleven pop up in your feed. 🥰

I love sharing not just the cottage, but all the things that make me love this part of Cornwall — the beaches, walks, food, hidden corners, days out, local businesses, sunsets, storms, sea swims… and of course the occasional appearance from the Head of Marketing! 🐾😂

And because I run Penty Myghal independently, every single interaction really does make a difference. There are no big booking sites or marketing teams behind me — just me, my cottage and my love of Porthleven. 🩵

“But I’ve got no annual leave left!” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well… do you know you can still have a proper little Cornish escape? 🩵

Yes, Penty Myghal has a 3-night minimum stay, but you can arrive from 4pm on Friday and stay as late as you like on Sunday – so you can squeeze in a whole weekend away without taking a single day off work.

Imagine…

🍻 Friday evening – arrive, unpack and head straight to the Ship Inn for a drink and something to eat.

🌊 Saturday – a leisurely day exploring the Lizard, discovering beautiful beaches, coastal walks and perhaps a Cornish ice cream or two.

🍽️ Sunday – no rushing around. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at Amélie’s, wander around the harbour and then head home feeling like you’ve actually had a proper holiday.

Three nights, two full days of exploring and no annual leave required!

And with 3-night breaks from just £351 – that’s only £29.25 per person, per night when four people share. 🩵

Sometimes you don’t need a week off to get away… you just need a Friday afternoon and a little bit of Cornwall. 🏡🌊🐾
