Penty Myghal is just a couple of minutes from Porthleven harbour, sleeps up to four & is very happy to welcome four-legged guests too. 🐶

I’m at Penty Myghal this morning getting the cottage ready for the most important of VIPs in our family’s life - my beautiful mom has had the same wonderful carer for over 3 years - and tomorrow she’ll be taking a well deserved break to stay in Porthleven with her parents, who are here visiting 🥰

🎃👻 Happy Halloween from Cornwall! 🧡

We had a lovely trip to Paradise Park yesterday & these singing pumpkins were too good not to share! 😂🎃

If you’re staying at Penty Myghal, Paradise Park is only about 20 minutes away & makes a great day out, we love the birds, especially the aviary’s you can sit in, and we were very entertained by the sheep, penguins and otters.

There’s a cafe, shop, pub and large soft play - so you can definitely make a day of it with little ones.

There’s plenty to see & do, but one little tip from me… check the timings on their website before you go - we missed the owl flights by 20 minutes yesterday which was a shame 🦉

🍂 Come & join me in Cornwall this autumn… 💙

Cold water swims, blustery coastal or woodland walks with the dog, boat trips, big skies & coming back to candlelight, a cosy cottage & absolutely nowhere you need to be. 🐾🌊🕯️

Honestly, Cornwall isn’t just for summer. There’s something rather special about this time of year — the beaches are quieter, the waves are bigger & a walk in the fresh air followed by a cosy evening feels like just what the doctor ordered!

💙 A little bit of Cornwall to soothe the soul… 🌊

Autumn sunshine, the sea & the sound of the waves.

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of living near the sea. Even on an ordinary day, a little time watching the waves seems to put everything into perspective.

And this is Cornwall in autumn… no summer crowds, just fresh air, beautiful views & time to slow down a little.

I went out with AK Wildlife Cruises Falmouth last weekend & what a beautiful day to be out on the water!

No dolphins or whales this time (there’s always next time 🤞🐬), but we did have some rather curious seals popping up to see what we were up to! 🦭 I’ve got a little video of them to share.

We also spotted lots of seabirds & even a peregrine falcon perched on the cliffs.

You can’t guarantee what you’ll see when you go looking for wildlife, but that’s all part of the fun. And on a sunny day like that, with our beautiful Cornish coastline all around, I really wasn’t complaining! 💙

With Storm Austen bringing an amber weather warning, I offered my outgoing guests a later checkout so they didn’t have to rush off & travel in the worst of the weather.

At the same time, I was hoping to get my arriving guests in a bit earlier if possible, so today it was all hands on deck to get the changeover done!

(Not so) Little Miss was roped in to help, including making up the beds. 😂🛏️

Penty Myghal is a proudly independent, family-owned holiday cottage & one of the things I love most is that we all muck in to make sure guests have a lovely stay.

It’s not just about having a clean, comfortable cottage waiting for you — it’s about those little personal touches & doing what I can to make your holiday that bit easier. 💙

Now, I wonder if she’ll be expecting wages… 🤔😂

🌦️ I’ve been keeping an eye on the Kernow Weather Team forecast & it looks like we’re in for a bit of a change this week!

After a few months of pretty settled weather, Storm Austen is on its way & Friday’s changeover is looking like it could be a very blowy one. 🌬️

But do you know what that means? Big wave season is well and truly here! 🌊😍

There’s something pretty special about watching the waves roll into Porthleven harbour, especially when the sea is putting on a proper show.

My guests arriving on Friday are regulars, so they know exactly what to expect & I suspect they’ll be rather pleased with the timing! 😂

Cosy cottage, a roaring wood burner & a front-row seat to some proper Cornish weather… just remember to keep a safe distance from the waves!
