Today is World Refill Day and something many of us in Scotland are fortunate enough to take for granted – our water!🌍💧♻️
At The Glen Mhor Hotel & Apartments and Uilebheist Distillery, water is literally at the heart of everything we do. Our own water source heats our buildings through our river-source energy system. This water (with its amazing natural minerals) helps create our delicious beers and whisky and it supports the natural environment that makes the Highlands such a special place to live, work and visit.
Living in the Highlands, surrounded by lochs, rivers and some of the purest and best water in the world, it is easy to forget that for billions of people, access to clean drinking water remains a daily challenge. While we enjoy turning on a tap without a second thought, many communities still walk miles to collect water or face uncertainty about whether it is safe to drink.
Choosing to refill a bottle rather than buy another single-use plastic one may seem insignificant, but multiplied across communities, businesses and countries, these small actions become powerful. At all our businesses, we will happily refill any bottle with fresh, clean water.
Water is one of our planet's most precious resources. It sustains life, communities, agriculture, tourism and industry. We should never lose sight of how fortunate we are to have access to such an abundance of it here in Scotland, nor our responsibility to protect it for future generations.
