I spoke with this wonderful man yesterday ... we could have chatted for hours ..... he's taken our order for a tawny owl nest box 🦉😃 and we cannot wait to add it to the cottage garden over winter.

Rob Stephenson crafts custom-made boxes for tawny, barn, and little owls in Cumbria.

We know it's all a long way ahead but we have been asked several times recently 'When are yoy opening up the 2028 booking calendar?'

... Well we are delighted to say the 2028 calendar is now open for bookings 😃

Two weeks in October 2028 have already been snapped up, and although we don't as yet have the exact dates for the next Guisachan Gathering the anticipated date is being held for someone on a 'First Refusal' basis.

We are so very grateful to our our wonderful guests for the continued support 🙏🙏🙏

From farmers and crofters to estates and community groups, land managers have a vital role to play in fostering healthier, more resilient landscapes. But their ability to do so is often shaped by the policies and funding systems that govern how land is managed.

A new publication from The Scottish Rewilding Alliance, Wilder Horizons, takes a closer look at these systems, exploring how changes to rural payments, restoration funding and support for coexistence with wildlife could help Scotland achieve its nature recovery ambitions.

Our recent guests have been telling us just how much the pine martens are loving their eggs, especially Atlee our most senior lady and Brewers Cottage royalty. We have searched the internet for the perfect egg holder and it's just arrived 😃 On our next visit we will be looking for just the right place to mount this cast iron feeder so Atlee can enjoy her eggs away from those hoovering badgers. ... Ohhh and eggs ... just another item to add to your shopping list when staying at BC
