Sharing my fish and chips with omy two scally-wags at Allonby Beach. Life is good 😊

Collected our supper en-route from Cross Quays Fish Shop in Maryport and had my first ‘patty’ which was absolutely gawjus 😋😋😋. Chips were really good too.

Allonby is about 40mins drive from Maple Bank Guest House with a fabulous long beach - especially when the tide is out - perfect for the dogs to run on. And if you come here during the day then you can end your walk with a sandwich or soup at Seaglass Coffee Allonby

I made it to Brantwood House! Finally made it. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

What a gawjus setting. So very peaceful. The views are magnificent. The cafe is just lovely with an amazing menu and cake selection (mine was Black Forest Gateau). And can sit outside and enjoy some yummy food and the views at the same time.

You can get the ferry over to or from Coniston.

And the House and John Rushkin are so very, very interesting. Totally understand why my mum loved it.

And I’m definitely going back as 250 acres of gardens still to explore - and can take the dog in the gardens too.

A great drive from Maple Bank - maplebank.co.uk - enjoy the route down through St John’s in the Vale, past Grasmere and Rydal Water and down to Ambleside where you hang a right. A glorious drive.

Looking for something different to do in the Lakes?

Weather forecast looking a bit damp?

Then head to Honister Slate Mine for their amazing Slate Mine Tour. I went with my goddaughters and it was just fabulous. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and great fun to talk to. Kids and adults alike had a marvelous time. Wear your layers like they tell you to as it’s a wee bit chilly. Need to wear walking boots or trainers - not crocs! 😆 and don’t be late.

The drive to Honister from Maple Bank Guest House is about half an hour. So why not enjoy a mooch about Keswick after breakfast. Grab a bowl of soup in The Pocket Keswick and then head off for the tour. And then drive through the pass and down to Buttermere. A 2-hour stomp around the lake will get you warmed up late afternoon and then enjoy your evening meal at either The Bridge Hotel or Buttermere Court Hotel - a whole day planned and sorted ☺️ Back to Maple Bank for a good night sleep 😴

Looking over to Skiddaw, Dodd, Latrigg and Blencathra today from Stile End 😎💪☺️ just glorious 🥰

Head off for a short walk from us at Maple Bank Guest House. Or extend the walk to The Coledale Trio for 3-4 hours. Or do the whole Coledale Round/Horseshoe if you’re looking for a full-on day out on the Fells.

And you can now ‘grab a bag and go’ as we can offer you a packed lunch. So leave the car at Maple Bank, slap on the suntan cream and hat, and just head for the hills after breakfast.

Well Trevor has certainly enjoyed the spring-time sunshine over the last few days - 😎😎😎 - chasing the sun spots around on the patio for a spot of sun-bathing 🥰

Pooches are very welcome here at Maple Bank. Take advantage of our large, enclosed garden at the rear of the House for our 4-legged guests to enjoy a good run around.

And 2 pubs and a gastro-pub are all within 15 mins walk from the House to enjoy your evening meal.

Walks and routes available from the House - soon driving - or walk into Keswick to stretch off before any uphill hiking. And plenty more dog-friendly restaurants in Keswick too.

Oh Latrigg - simply lovely 🥰🥰🥰

Latrigg is a fell the can offer many things:

- A shorter walk from the car park above Applethwaite if you just want a shorter, brisk stroll;

- An accessible walk if you use a motability scooter to help you along. Slightly longer but will still get you to the top, starting from the car park;

- A cracking view from the top over Keswick;

- And two routes - that I know of - up from Keswick which can give you a longer route and get the legs going and heart pumping. The Keswick Tourist Association has a great route online with directions as a downloadable pdf.

So come and see us! And remember to phone to book direct to get the best price and you still get the same cancellation terms as the online booking sites. A win-win for everyone 🏆 🏆 🏆
