I used to think Holkham was only for high summer queues.

Then October half term opened quieter sand and the pinewoods at Holkham Estate, North Norfolk, UK. Holkham is running half-term days late this month. Children, dogs on leads, big empty shore. You walk it out, then sleep nearby. Hut, van or motorhome at Hunstanton, Heacham or Holme. Old Barn and The Dairy on the Hunstanton stretch if you want a proper bed. Not a tent peg week.

Reply DOGS if she is in the car too.

Still a few half-term hut nights showing if you look tonight.

Stay over, make it a miniBreak.

I used to think fireworks night was only about the bangs on the cliff.

Then I watched people base a campervan or motorhome at Hunstanton, North Norfolk, UK, head to Cliff Top on Saturday 7 November 2026 for the 50th Round Table night, and sleep after the display. Gates from 4pm. Low-bang show 5:45pm. Main fireworks and laser 7:45pm. Dogs stay off the event field. Our pitch still welcomes them. No fireworks or sky lanterns on our site. That is the honest house rule.

Hut or van, not a tent peg. Old Barn and The Dairy sit on that stretch if you want a proper bed.

Reply VAN if the van is the plan.

A handful of fireworks weekend van nights still showing if you look tonight.

Stay over, make it a miniBreak.

You know, there’s something rather special about Norfolk, UK in autumn. The coast is beautiful, the walks are lovely, and there’s nothing quite like coming back to a cosy cottage after a day out exploring. Pop the kettle on, put your feet up, and enjoy a proper change of scenery. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

And here’s a little tip from me… if you’re thinking about booking a stay with Norfolk Coastal Cottages, have a look at our Shopify vouchers! You could save on your next mini break, leaving a little extra for the cream teas.

I used to think fog meant stay in.

Then Holme-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk, UK put a dry high-pressure weekend on the chart. Friday fog lifts toward sunshine, 7-14°C. Saturday sunny intervals, 8-14°C. Sunday mistier, 9-12°C. Hunstanton high tides 08:32, 09:23, 10:26. Half term still rolling. Hut, van or motorhome base. Open all winter.

I used to think a pub was just the place you ended up after the walk.

Then White Horse Holme, North Norfolk, UK sat around the corner from the dunes and became half the reason the weekend worked. Proper bakery when you want bread and coffee. Dark timber and a candle when the wind comes off Holme Beach. Peddars Way ends nearby. Coast Path if you want more miles. Hut or van at Holme, not a tent peg. Old Barn and The Dairy sit further along the Hunstanton stretch if you want a proper bed after the miles.

Reply WALK if the trail and the fire are the plan.

I used to think a deli stop was just lunch on the way somewhere else.

Then Thornham Deli, North Norfolk, UK, sat between the salt marsh and the A149 and became the whole reason the afternoon slowed down. Coffee. Something proper on a plate. Creek air when you step back outside. Drove Orchards is along that strip if you want the farm shop too. Old Barn and The Dairy sit on the Hunstanton stretch if you want a proper bed after. Hut or van at Heacham or Holme. Not a tent peg.

Reply GLAMP if that is your kind of base.

Still a few late October hut nights showing if you look tonight.

Now that's my kind of pit stop! ☕🥐 Who can resist a good coffee and a freshly baked treat?

If you're exploring the Norfolk coast, Drove Orchards in Thornham is well worth a stop. From The Old Store to Mims Gelato, there's plenty to tempt you!

It's one of those lovely local spots we like recommending to our mYminiBreak guests.

Anyone been? Where's your favourite place for a coffee and something sweet in Norfolk?

Nige x

There’s something to be said for taking a little time out of the day. A freshly made coffee, a moment to sit back and a chance to slow down from the usual hustle and bustle. ☕️

This , we’re celebrating the brilliant coffee spots that reside right here within our Village.

From expertly made coffee at The Old Store, to Mims Gelato, best known for its homemade gelato but also serving up a lovely coffee.

And for those moments when you’re on the go, the Drove Farm Shop is always there for a coffee to take with you.

Whether you’re stopping by for a catch-up, taking a breather between errands or simply fancy a good cup of coffee, there’s a spot waiting for you here at Drove.

Looking for something to keep the kids busy this half-term? 🎃

Our friends over at Norfolk Lavender in Heacham have a FREE pumpkin hunt on!

Farmer Fred has lost 13 pumpkins around the site, and the little ones can help find them. Just pick up a hunt sheet from the Farm Shop, track them all down and collect a little treat afterwards.

Not a bad way to spend a few hours, and it won't cost you a penny!

If you're bringing the family to Norfolk this half-term, why not make a few days of it? Bring the campervan or motorhome, or settle into one of our cosy cottages at mYminiBreak. Plenty to explore around here once the pumpkin hunting's done.

Anyone heading to Norfolk with the kids this half-term? Comment PUMPKIN and I'll send you the details! 🎃

One of the best coffee spots on the Norfolk coast, and we have a few.

You push the door at White Horse Holme, Holme-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, UK, and it hits you. Danishes and sourdough baking right next to where you order your coffee. Old barn, old tools, aprons and rolling pins on the wall. Stone and brickwork around a wood burner on the far wall.

Sunny day, you sit out in the garden with the sea breeze. Cold, wintry, rainy day, you bag the seat by the burner with a proper coffee and a cheeky Danish.

Walkers off Peddars Way with wet dogs. That look that says they have earned a bun. Bakery 8am to 3pm every day through autumn and winter.

We are the campsite in Holme, and just down the road at Hunstanton. They are a big reason our guests come here.

I used to think the main Hunstanton beach ban was the whole dog story.

Then October at Old Hunstanton and Holme, North Norfolk, UK, stayed open while the cliffs stretch still had the summer rule on until 31 October. She does not read the signs. She wants wet sand and a hut or van to dry off in. Old Barn and The Dairy sit on that stretch if you want a proper bed. Not a tent peg.

Reply DOGS if she is coming too.

Still a few late October hut nights showing if you look tonight.

Stay over, make it a miniBreak.
