One of the most iconic landmarks in the north of England — and it's just a short stroll from our front door.

Devil's Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale is one of those places that stops you in your tracks. A stunning mediaeval bridge spanning the River Lune, believed to date back to the 12th century — and the legend behind its name is just as dramatic as its setting.

The story goes that the Devil himself built the bridge overnight in exchange for the soul of the first living creature to cross it. A clever local woman outsmarted him by sending her dog across first. The Devil, outwitted, disappeared — and the bridge has stood ever since. 😈🐕
