If you ever find yourself driving along the spectacular Bishop’s Road near Limavady, you absolutely have to pull over at the Gortmore Viewpoint. High above the cliffs sits the magnificent statue of Manannán Mac Lir, the ancient Celtic sea god.

Sculpted by John Sutton (who worked on Game of Thrones!), this majestic figure looks out over Lough Foyle and Benone Beach with his arms outstretched, as if commanding the tides below.

Beyond the jaw-dropping panoramic views, this spot holds a legendary past—including a famous mystery in 2015 when the original statue disappeared, only for this incredible replacement to rise again a year later.

True to his mythical roots, not even the sea god could be kept away from his peak! 🌅
