We are renovating a shop in Lochgilphead - hoping to open later this year!

The honesty fridge is restocked and this time not just with our usual cuts of venison, but with some gorgeous wild duck as well. Duck is normally pretty popular so pop up as soon as you can (we open at 10am each day). However, if you miss out on the duck, don’t panic as we always keep some venison and other wild game in the fridge or the freezer (just below the fridge), so your journey won’t be wasted. We are open daily from 10am - 4pm, but honestly there’s normally someone around if you come a bit earlier or later that know that.

And if you are looking for something for a party or special occasion, you can always message here or to place a bespoke order.

We are just beyond Glassary village as you head up the Glen. Our postcode is PA31 8QL and our what3words is built.lifestyle.goodness.

👋 Next up in our meet the team series is Wil Tunnell from WT Architecture 👋

Wil is the principal architect at WT Architecture and on this project has been the primary lead for all things listed building. His guidance and pragmatic approach was central to our application for changes, and his advice has always been spot on, ensuring we preserve the historic character of the the buildings in Colchester Square, while also improving them for today’s usage. We couldn’t be more grateful for his input and the brilliant team he’s built at WT Architecture : thanks Wil and here’s to the next stage of the project!!

👋 Next in our meet the team series is Martin, the Creative Director of Creative Design | E-commerce | Brand & Marketing Support and the designer behind all of our branding material 🎨

It’s such a joy working with Martin, and nothing is ever too much trouble. He’s really creative and completely understands a brand vision which makes his designs really on point from the get go. He’s also super receptive to feedback, even things I’m not always able to explain well, which makes the process even more enjoyable and truly collaborative.

You’ll see some of his work already on here, on and on our website, but there’s more to come with packaging and some other exciting things, so keep you eyes peeled for the next design reveals! Thank you, Martin for all that you do and I can’t wait for the next developments!

👋 Third in our meet the team series is Tamsin Cunningham from WT Architecture 👋

Tamsin is our overall project lead for the Kirnan & Co renovations, overseeing all of the design work, consent submissions and - at this stage probably most importantly - leading all of our site meetings to keep the myriad parties involved on track, so no small feat!! We love working with Tamsin; her calm and collected approach is the perfect antidote to when things get stressful or tough decisions need to be made. And it’s her pragmatic approach to finding solutions that stands out every time. All of this combined with deep design sensibilities is such a powerful combination, and means I feel really confident in the vision for the spaces, but also our ability to achieve that vision in reality.

Thank you, Tamsin for leading with such grace and authority, we are so excited for the next stage of the project!

👋 Next up in the meet the team series is our skilled builder, Colin Meikle colindmeikleandson 👋

Colin previously worked on our house up in Kilmichael Glassary back when we moved here in 2021. We really enjoyed working with him and his team on that project, so it was something of a no-brainer when he proactively contacted us about getting involved in the work at Kirnan & Co.

What we enjoy most about working with Colin are two things: 1) his technical knowledge combined with practicality. He will always take the time to think through a problem and come up with a solution that balances easy maintenance, the budget and the overall quality. These are not easy things to achieve all in one project! And 2) he talks to me like a human being: never condescending, always clear and happy to explain why some thing needs doing or why there might be a better solution, and for that I’m hugely grateful.

We are ready to motor on with the next stages of the project, which will involve Colin and his team more and more, so we are looking forward to that continued collaboration! Thanks Colin!

👋 Meet the team 👋

This is the first in a series of posts where we introduce the team members who’ve been working on the Kirnan & Co renovation so far!

We are starting with the indefatigable Jodie Wilson from WT Architecture who is the architect working on all of the designs on this project and our main day-to-day point of contact. Jodie is the one dealing with the onslaught of questions that come up every week, as well as leading on the production of the drawings and the overall design of the spaces. She’s got others supporting her (who I’ll introduce in another post) from the WT team too of course, but we are so grateful for her insight and thoughtfulness that she brings to all of our conversations and designs.

She’s also led on getting all of our applications through to the council, which have all so far been successful! Thank you, Jodie, and we are looking forward to the next exciting phase of the project with you!

We can’t promise another glorious autumn day like this one, but we can promise that the honesty fridge is full of delicious produce, including great value 1kg packets of mince and some delicious dry aged haunch steaks. Do stop by if you’re on your way out somewhere, we take cash or card and who knows, if it’s nice weather, there might still be time for one more BBQ of the season?!

We had a great site meeting today with our architects WT Architecture and our build team colindmeikleandson . I’ll do a proper meet the team post in the next week or so but safe to say we were all on the same page about how we want to communicate through this next phase of work. We chatted through some additional ideas that came up as we’ve been stripping out some of the older fixtures and agreed on our next steps, which will launch us into the busiest phase of the build so far. I think there’s one more key conversation with the structural engineer and then we are good to crack on!

Thanks so much to Tamsin and Colin for making the time and helping us keep on track!

(And wasn’t it lovely to see the sun today?! The shops looked so pretty in the morning light as you can see in the first picture. I can’t wait for that to be my office soon 😍) x
