A new public Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) register has been made available, giving landlords, letting agents and property professionals a clearer way to check registered exemptions and enforcement action for private rented properties.

With private rented sector (PRS) MEES requirements set to rise to EPC C by 2030, now is a good time for landlords to review EPCs, exemptions and improvement plans across their portfolios.

New government-commissioned research into EPC accuracy provides valuable evidence on how domestic energy assessments can continue to improve.

The report reinforces a message the industry has recognised for some time: EPCs are essential, but they must continue to evolve as better information becomes available.

This week, Elmhurst Energy’s Head of Training, Josh Wakeling, attended the Future Homes, Skills and Innovation APPG session at Portcullis House, where industry leaders, parliamentarians and training experts came together to discuss the skills needed to support the future of UK homes.

As the sector works to grow the workforce needed for retrofit, energy efficiency and future homes, Josh spoke with the expert panel about how we ensure competence is achieved, maintained and trusted over time.

For Elmhurst Energy, ongoing professional registration, quality assurance and CPD have an important role to play in supporting competent, current professionals and building confidence across the sector.

It was encouraging to see this discussion taking place at a parliamentary level, with a clear focus on practical solutions and long-term skills development.

This April, we continued our conservation work with Bradgate Park Trust.

A group of Elmhurst volunteers gave their time to help repair and install protective fencing around trees, an essential project to safeguard them from the park’s large deer population.

2026 marks our fourth year working alongside the Bradgate Park team, and we’re proud to play a role in protecting such an important natural space in our community.
