l and offering all the trappings of a ‘weekend in the country’, was John Spedan Lewis’ vision when the Club opened in 1927. Over 90 years later that is still exactly what awaits Partners as they arrive through the large iron gates of the 140-acre riverside estate.The impressive Lullebrook Manor stands at the heart of the estate surrounded by a flower-lined terrace and immaculately kept lawn, perfect for a game of croquet, an afternoon snooze or an early evening gin and tonic. The Manor’s grand bay windows give a light and airy feel to the restaurant, lounge and bar areas, while the stately, yet comfortable furnishings all add to its authentic country house feel. Whether you are staying in the Manor or one of the other period buildings within the estate, there is a feeling of relaxed sophistication throughout and plenty to keep you entertained. Stroll down to the water gardens, watch a cricket match, or find a quiet spot on the river to read a book or fish. Mess about on the river in one of the Club’s rowing boats or if you want a bit more action there are tennis courts,a putting green and an outdoor heated swimming pool (open throughout the summer). A formal Dinner is served at the Manor Restaurant and is a true treat for the taste buds and a carefully crafted bar menu offers food from 10:00 - 18:00, to be eaten within the Manor or outside on the bustling terrace. Enjoy classic British food and fine wines in a buzzy country house party atmosphere before retiring to the lounge bar for a nightcap or two! But leave room for the hearty breakfast the next morning.
