Litet-Hem is our luxury self catering holiday home in the form of a shepherds hut for two people.

Next year we are into our 4th season of letting at Litet-Hem Paul Smith and we are not such the secret we used to be.

With many repeat customers who love coming back to us for some chilled out time in our private corner of The North Wessex Downs National Landscape we are now getting booked up further and further in advance.

Already January 2027 is looking busy, people love to find an escape from the winter blues and there is nothing better for set than a stray in our cozy hut with maybe the wood fire blazing away whilst you look out over a frosty winter landscape from the dining table.

We also have bookings already confirmed for February and March so if you are thinking about a stay with us don't leave it to chance.

After getting the hut ready for our next guests today it was a beautiful day to do a bit of strimming in the meadow grass area and the orchard to tidy things up ahead of winter.

It was also nice to get back home to see another 5* review had been left by our guests who vacated this morning.

A big thanks to all of our guests that take the time to leave a review, it's always much appreciated.

A lovely gesture from our guest who stayed with us over the last weekend, always nice to know our guests positive thoughts about their stay.

It's been an incredibly busy 2026 season here at Paul Smith and we thank everyone that has left us 5* feedback which helps new guests thinking about booking.

Autumn is a beautiful time of the year here as we are surrounded by trees and hedging that adds a colourful backdrop to our private corner of the wonderful North Wessex Downs National Landscape

October and November do not have many booking opportunities left so be quick if you are thinking about a stay in our luxury shepherds hut which was constructed by Blackdown | Shepherd Huts | Saunas | Garden Cabins , the choice of many high class hotels providing additional accommodation within their grounds. With September now pretty much being fully booked, we thank everyone that has chosen Litet-Hem for an end of summer break.

October, November and December dates are already being taken so if you are looking for an end of 2026 autumn/winter break don't leave it to the last minute as 2025 was extremely busy throughout the last three months of the years.

A big thanks to all of our previous guests that have left us 5* feedback across all booking platforms, on Airbnb we are now in the top 5% of properties.

We look forward to welcoming you to our private corner in the stunning North Wessex Downs National Landscape where we are ideally placed for Stonehenge , Avebury NT and Salisbury Cathedral , some of the most visited heritage assets in the area. We have also been a popular base for people attending racing events at nearby Thruxton Race Circuit .

A big thanks to Martyn for a lovely review of Litet-Hem and also thanks for being a model guest.

Thanks to everyone that has booked this year so far giving us our busiest year ever with occupancy way above our expectations.

September is now getting busy so if you are planning an end of summer break as September was a really busy month last year.

As always we wouldn't be where we are with this business if it wasn't for the help of Blackdown Shepherd Huts right from the start. From putting us in touch with the right planning consultant who gained us a permission for 365 day all year round use and at the end building and installing the most stunning shepherds hut that our guests fall in love with.

We also would like to thank The North Wessex Downs National Landscape for all the efforts they put in promoting the area, we are so lucky to be within this national park which extends across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire.

That's our chimney swept all ready for the autumn/winter season, and maybe a chilly summer evening,for safe use of our Charnwood Stoves wood burner for another year.

It really does add a cozy , romantic feel to the atmosphere at Litet-Hem .

No matter what the winter throws at you during your stay you definitely will not be cold.

A fast and efficient job as always from Shane of Three Shires stoves and chimneys who we can highly recommend.

Another busy week of changeovers just gone and another lovely 5* review from our latest guest which makes all the hard work worthwhile, check it out in the photos below.

Summer evenings are the best over at Litet-Hem sitting in the private garden space watching the sun going down after maybe some barbecuing.

And as if that's not enough to end the day maybe a stroll across the lane to the 18th century thatched inn is your ideal way to end the day.

Every photo is from within the curtilage of Litet-Hem

It's a space when not occupied by our guests I can come and use for planning new ideas and future goals with a totally clear mind.

Some of my best ideas come from surrounding myself in nature where nature has the ability to totally clear my mind of all distractions.

If you have future plans and goals to think about, although I am slightly biased, you won't find a better place to do it than at Litet Hem with the bonus of being to totally unwind from the normal day to day.

Both July & August are now filling up fast so if a stay here appeals, where at the end of a summers day you can carry on the calm with a stroll across the road to the inn where you will find great drinks and food, then check out our booking link in our bio where you will find lots more photos of our luxury accommodation, our current availability, rates and what's included as well as checking out our 5* guest reviews.

A little over five years ago we had a vision for a small parcel of agricultural land that had been in our family ownership for nearly 50 years.

Yes is was a shame to totally clear the site to what had become a home to wildlife, but we knew that given five years with our intervention along with mother nature that we would be able to create a place where nature and people could live side by side.

Our careful management of mother nature along with our intervention of creating some formal areas for relaxation and for people to take in the surrounding nature that has naturally returned together with the planting of over 20 native trees and over 200 native hedging plants has provided a great place for rural breaks that has now brought us many returning visitors, both human and from the natural environment such as birds, bees, butterflies and many colourful insects.

The 2026 season has started off extremely busy for us. We would love to take all the credit but some has to go to who manufactured our beautiful accommodation that leads to our positive reviews.

Looking at some of the high class hotels Blackdown supply to to provide additional accommodation made it an easy choice for us to buy a hut from them.
