With September now pretty much being fully booked, we thank everyone that has chosen Litet-Hem for an end of summer break.

October, November and December dates are already being taken so if you are looking for an end of 2026 autumn/winter break don't leave it to the last minute as 2025 was extremely busy throughout the last three months of the years.

A big thanks to all of our previous guests that have left us 5* feedback across all booking platforms, on Airbnb we are now in the top 5% of properties.

We look forward to welcoming you to our private corner in the stunning North Wessex Downs National Landscape where we are ideally placed for Stonehenge , Avebury NT and Salisbury Cathedral , some of the most visited heritage assets in the area. We have also been a popular base for people attending racing events at nearby Thruxton Race Circuit .

A big thanks to Martyn for a lovely review of Litet-Hem and also thanks for being a model guest.

Thanks to everyone that has booked this year so far giving us our busiest year ever with occupancy way above our expectations.

September is now getting busy so if you are planning an end of summer break as September was a really busy month last year.

As always we wouldn't be where we are with this business if it wasn't for the help of Blackdown Shepherd Huts right from the start. From putting us in touch with the right planning consultant who gained us a permission for 365 day all year round use and at the end building and installing the most stunning shepherds hut that our guests fall in love with.

We also would like to thank The North Wessex Downs National Landscape for all the efforts they put in promoting the area, we are so lucky to be within this national park which extends across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire.

That's our chimney swept all ready for the autumn/winter season, and maybe a chilly summer evening,for safe use of our Charnwood Stoves wood burner for another year.

It really does add a cozy , romantic feel to the atmosphere at Litet-Hem .

No matter what the winter throws at you during your stay you definitely will not be cold.

A fast and efficient job as always from Shane of Three Shires stoves and chimneys who we can highly recommend.

Another busy week of changeovers just gone and another lovely 5* review from our latest guest which makes all the hard work worthwhile, check it out in the photos below.

Summer evenings are the best over at Litet-Hem sitting in the private garden space watching the sun going down after maybe some barbecuing.

And as if that's not enough to end the day maybe a stroll across the lane to the 18th century thatched inn is your ideal way to end the day.

Every photo is from within the curtilage of Litet-Hem

It's a space when not occupied by our guests I can come and use for planning new ideas and future goals with a totally clear mind.

Some of my best ideas come from surrounding myself in nature where nature has the ability to totally clear my mind of all distractions.

If you have future plans and goals to think about, although I am slightly biased, you won't find a better place to do it than at Litet Hem with the bonus of being to totally unwind from the normal day to day.

A little over five years ago we had a vision for a small parcel of agricultural land that had been in our family ownership for nearly 50 years.

Yes is was a shame to totally clear the site to what had become a home to wildlife, but we knew that given five years with our intervention along with mother nature that we would be able to create a place where nature and people could live side by side.

Our careful management of mother nature along with our intervention of creating some formal areas for relaxation and for people to take in the surrounding nature that has naturally returned together with the planting of over 20 native trees and over 200 native hedging plants has provided a great place for rural breaks that has now brought us many returning visitors, both human and from the natural environment such as birds, bees, butterflies and many colourful insects.

Sharing my coffee break earlier in the week sitting in the wild area of the garden in-between getting things ready for our current guest.

Connecting with nature at Litet-Hem is just one of the many positive things about a stay here.

For those of you reading this that have stayed at Litet-Hem and loved the brass patina worktops in the kitchen check out the video below from Inspired Metal Ltd who made them.

We fell in love with them as soon as we saw them in the show hut at Blackdown Shepherd Huts who manufactured our hut.

One of the reasons we chose brass worktops is not just for their longevity but for their self disinfecting properties and ability to kill 99.9% of all bacteria coming into contact with the surface.
