Love this small gauge railway! My husbands ancestors helped dig out for the track!

The locomotives are a third the size of a normal steam engine. 🚂⚙️

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway opened in 1875 as a three foot gauge mineral line, then was rebuilt in 1915 at fifteen inches to carry granite and, later, passengers. ⏳📜

It runs 11 kilometres from the coast into Eskdale, and locals call it La'al Ratty, from the dialect for little. 🗻✨
