RNLI lifeguards are extending their daily patrols at 15 Cornish beaches for an extra week to cover the autumn half-term break 🛟

The extended patrols will run daily from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, November 1.

The extra week of cover means selected beaches will have station presence beyond the end of the normal seasonal service. They will join four other Cornish beaches that already run daily patrols until November 1.

RNLI teams warn that autumn conditions bring powerful waves, strong rip currents, and rapidly changing coastal weather.

"Although summer may be over, the risks at the coast remain," said Guy Botterill, RNLI Regional Lifeguard Lead for the South West.

"We'd encourage anyone planning a trip to the beach to choose a lifeguarded beach whenever possible and speak to our lifeguards for local safety advice."

Lifeguards will be on duty between 10am and 6pm each day. Patrol hours will change to end at 5pm from Sunday, October 25 when daylight saving time ends.
