It's not every day you see a CalMac ferry getting quite such a spectacular send-off! 🚢✨

With Bonfire Night just around the corner, we're looking forward to the skies above Oban lighting up again on Saturday 7th November.

🔥☕ A Little

The fire is crackling, the hot chocolate is topped with marshmallows, the biscuits are out and the Monopoly board is ready...

And now that half term is behind us, perhaps a wee splash of something stronger in that hot chocolate? 😉🥃

Nowhere to be, nothing to rush for. Just a cosy afternoon tucked away from the world. 🍂

🚗🏰 Feature Friday – Castles, Lochs & a Lovely Argyll Road Trip!

Fancy a day out with a little bit of everything? This week's Feature Friday takes us on one of our favourite circular drives from Melfort, with spectacular scenery, historic castles, a charming wee town and, naturally, something delicious along the way! 💚

🏘️ First stop – Inveraray!

Head south along Loch Fyne to the beautiful town of Inveraray. Take time to wander the little shops, enjoy the waterfront and admire magnificent Inveraray Castle.

If you're feeling energetic, the walk up to Dùn na Cuaiche rewards you with breathtaking views over the town, castle and loch.

🏰 Next stop – Kilchurn Castle!

Follow the winding A819 over the hills towards Dalmally, where one of Scotland's most photographed castles awaits.

Sitting on the shores of Loch Awe, the atmospheric ruins of Kilchurn Castle are simply stunning, especially with the mountains rising behind them.

The castle interior is currently closed for conservation, but the views from outside are well worth the stop. 📸

🌄 The scenic route home

Continue west along the A85, enjoying beautiful Loch Awe and the Pass of Brander before heading back towards Oban and home to Melfort.

🍦 Our tip: Leave plenty of time for spontaneous stops, photographs and a little treat along the way. We've even swapped our usual cake research for ice cream this week! 😂

🌊 Well, that was quite a weekend! 💨

After three weather fronts and some rather wild weather, we're delighted to report that Melfort Village has come through it all without any damage — and the power stayed on throughout! 🙌

Saturday's changeover brought a little extra excitement, though...

With the high tide briefly covering the road by Kilmelford Village Hall just as our guests were arriving, it was time for Plan B! 🚗

Thankfully, the old Pass of Melfort road provided an alternative route, and some brilliant teamwork between our staff and our neighbours at Melfort House meant we could guide arriving guests safely into the village.

A rather more adventurous start to their holidays than they'd expected! 😂

The road was only affected for around an hour at high tide, and normal access was soon restored.

Meanwhile, over on Easdale Island, where he lives, our gardener John captured this fantastic footage of the sea showing off its wild side! 🌊

Now that the weather is beginning to settle, we're looking forward to a slightly calmer week ahead.

A big thank you to everyone who helped keep things running smoothly! 💚

🌈 A little bit of magic at Melfort...

Autumn in Argyll certainly knows how to put on a show! 🍂

One minute there are dark clouds gathering, the next the sun breaks through and we're treated to something rather special.

This beautiful rainbow over Melfort Village was captured by one of our lovely owners, who kindly shared it with us. 💚

A little reminder that even on the greyest days, there's always a bit of colour to be found.
