Most of you staying at Gill Head will be like me … no signal… but if you do , here’s an update (from the top
of the drive where it’s blowing a gale but there is signal!😄) . The power cut has taken about 100 properties out in our area, it’s unsafe for engineers to climb the website says 1.30 for a fix…. I’m not so sure 😬
Bang on my door if you need me !

🌧️ A little weather update for guests visiting this weekend! 🌬️

With two named storms forecast this weekend, we appreciate that some guests may be reconsidering their plans.

Whilst we do have sheltered areas on site and remain open as usual, it may be unsafe to travel or the forecast weather may put a bit of a dampener on your stay and limit what you can get out and enjoy in the Lakes!

The decision to travel is entirely yours, but for those who would prefer to postpone, we're happy to offer the option of transferring your booking to an alternative date.

As we close for the season on 31st October, we realise there's little opportunity to rearrange this year, so we're extending this offer into our 2027 season, subject to availability and excluding bank holiday weekends.

If you're booked to stay with us this weekend and would prefer to rearrange, please get in touch.

🦚 4 new arrivals at Gill Head! 🦚

Just a little reminder that we are based on a working farm, so there are often chickens etc roaming around site. 🐔

Please take extra care when travelling on or off site, keep your speed down and dogs on leads at all times 🚜🐾

Just to let you know that Electricity North West are currently working on damaged cables in our area and this will mean occasional temporary loss of power on site , they hope to complete the work later this evening . Sorry for any inconvenience.

The lovely Miss Molly hungryfarmercatering is returning tonight at Gill Head Farm, her Beltie Burgers menu is fabulous , using beef from their own herd just in the next valley and wherever possible local produce 🫶
Always a sell out get there early !

🔥 IMPORTANT FIRE SAFETY UPDATE 🔥

Following tonight’s Government Severe Alert regarding the very high risk of wildfires nationally, we wont be selling logs, kindling and fire pits at Gill Head Farm until we receive further guidance.

We ask all visitors to please help us keep everyone safe by not lighting fires, using disposable BBQs or fire pits during this period.

For cooking, please use gas cooking stoves only, and take extreme care when using gas cookers. Never leave cooking equipment unattended and ensure it is used safely and appropriately.

Thank you for helping us protect our farm, the surrounding countryside and everyone staying with us. 🤍🌿🔥

Today we’ve been splitting the ewes and lambs into different groups, giving our ewes some well-earned time to recover after lambing, while also giving the lambs the best opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential as they continue to grow. 💚

You may notice the sheep are a little noisier than usual over the next few days. This is completely normal and is simply down to the change of field and the new surroundings and situation for them.

So if you hear a few extra baaaas around the farm, don’t be alarmed! 🐑They’re just getting used to their new routine🌾
