🍊 Next weekend The Dalemain World Marmalade Awards & Festival 🍊
The World Marmalade Awards are almost here, just a short drive from The Old URC.
The festival site is free to visit, with stalls, tastings and plenty going on — and we’re available to stay in during the festival, making it an ideal base for a last‑minute Lake District break.

At the festival we will be doing a live Marmalade judging of 'The Marmalashes', 11 British jars against 11 Australian jars. This will be at 2pm in front of the house if good weather or in the marquee if it's raining. An audience will make it even more tense (the Brits will have to fight hard to win after being defeated last year!)

At The Old URC, we recently left the church in the capable hands of Haus Of Clean for a guest changeover and they did not disappoint. Everything was immaculate, the place felt wonderfully welcoming, and the cushions were once again karate‑chopped into perfect submission.

Our guests always appreciate the warmth and care that goes into preparing the space, and it’s a real comfort knowing the church is looked after so well when we’re away.

You can see their latest handiwork in the photos below, crisp beds, gleaming spaces, and those famously disciplined cushions.

After much soul-searching, The Old URC is reopening as a place of worship! ⛪️ Guests will now be asked to join morning prayers, and Sunday services will be led by the local Herdwick sheep choir. 🐑🎶
