Once upon a time there was a drinking club at Burghley House. It was founded by The 5th Earl of Exeter in 1684 and it was called The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam. It had an eclectic bunch of members: The Baptist Earl of Gainsborough was known as Greyhound, The Hon Charles Bertie was The Stag and The Earl of Denbigh was Tyger amongst other nefarious characters. We are not sure who The Bull (rumoured to be The Hon Charles Cecil) and The Swan were and nor are we sure that the club dined at this historic Stamford Public House....but it is highly likely they did. They would have drunk locally brewed ales, feasted on Burghley Estate and other local produce and created total bedlam. Things have a habit of coming round and we look forward to inviting you to dine on our local produce, sup our fine ales and obviously behave very, very well! We've seven amazing bedrooms which are incredibly comfortable beds & great size showers and baths.

The Autumn Internationals are back, and we’re bringing all the action to the Bull & Swan this November.

Catch the rugby on our big screens, grab something from Hoggy’s Hatch and settle in with a few pints. The Secret Garden will be open for the action, with tables available to book for drinks.

Big games, good food and plenty of rugby. See you at the Bull.

A week full of bangers. Quite literally.

It’s UK Sausage Week, so naturally we’ve decided to celebrate with a German tradition.

Smoked bratwurst, curry ketchup, sauerkraut, crispy onions and fries. We might have missed the memo on the nationality, but we’ve certainly got the sausage part covered.

The wurst excuse to visit the pub? We think not.

🚨 A Small Update on Parking at The William Cecil & The Bull & Swan 🚨

After last time… we’ve taken your feedback on board.
So, we’re pleased to introduce a brand new state-of-the-art (can’t be missed) parking system at our entrance.
A toll booth.
Before anyone panics - parking remains completely free. However, to pass back through the barrier, drivers will now simply be required to provide a selfie with Sergio.
We feel this strikes the perfect balance.
