We have a live performance from Poole Me Hearties – a local band singing all manner of sea shanties and seafaring songs – from 4pm on Saturday 27th June at our annual Picnic in the Park.

Poole Me Hearties have previously headlined Bristol Sea Shanty Festival, and have performed at shanty and folk festivals across the UK and Europe. Come on down to Upton Recreational Ground to sing along!

Our FREE Picnic in the Park runs from 13:00-17:30, with loads of fun activities for all the family. See you there, and stay tuned for more act announcements!

We are so proud to sponsor the awards! Congratulations to the seven winner 👏

At yesterday’s Town Council meeting we celebrated the achievements of these amazing 6th form pupils from Lytchett Minster School who are winners of the STEM Awards. This is a Council inspired scheme dedicating £5000 per year of funding with additional funds from sponsors the Lees and Rockley families, and South Lytchett Manor estates.

The scheme aims to meet the rising need for degree-level Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) graduates in the UK by incentivising their study at A Level, university, and beyond. To the best of our knowledge, there is no other provision of this kind in the country, and we hope that this will inspire other local councils to consider similar initiatives of their own.

Massive congratulation to the 7winners and we can’t wait to hear all about their future academic achievements and how the funding has helped them.
