South Sands is a beautiful beachside hotel, restaurant & cocktail bar, right on the beach at South Sands, Salcombe, Devon. Surrounded by stunning cliffs, wooded valleys and seascapes, this is a beautiful environment in which to relax and explore. Created in 2010, the hotel established a beachside, New England style, with light airy rooms and original design. The South Sands team offer an informal and understated hotel with attention to the little details. The restaurant, bar and beachside terrace is open all year to both residents and non-residents. We look forward to welcoming you to this most unique location.

Planning to enjoy the fireworks? The nearest bonfire celebration will be at Malborough Village Hall & Playing Fields, starting at 6:30 pm. Wrap up warm and enjoy a sparkling evening!

🍽️ 1 November | DBB Offer Begins

Our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast offer is here! Treat yourself to a relaxing coastal escape, delicious food and a cosy stay by the sea.

🍛 Eastern Table | Now on Thursdays

A little change to our weekly schedule! During our winter opening hours, Eastern Table is moving from Wednesdays to Thursdays. Join us for delicious flavours and a lovely evening at South Sands!

🍷 From 12 November | Mince Pies & Mulled W**e

A little taste of Christmas is arriving! Join us for delicious mince pies and warming mulled w**e – the perfect combination for a chilly autumn afternoon.

🎄 10 December | Christmas Party with DJ

It’s time to get festive! Join us for a special Christmas celebration featuring a delicious three-course menu from our festive menu, followed by music and dancing with our DJ.

Reservations are now open to everyone. Pre-booking is essential, so make sure you secure your place!

As the seasons change, we’re moving to our winter opening hours — but there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy a little time by the sea! 🌊

OPEN: Thursday midday until Monday midday
CLOSED: Monday midday until Thursday midday

🎄 Christmas opening hours

We’ll return to our normal opening hours until Christmas. Please note that on the following occasions, we’ll be closed to non-residents:

✨ Christmas Eve
✨ Christmas Day
✨ Boxing Day dinner

After Christmas, we’ll be fully open until Monday 4 January 2027, when our winter opening hours will resume.

Whether you’re joining us for a cosy lunch, a warming drink by the fire or a meal overlooking the sea, we look forward to welcoming you this winter. 🤍

🦪 1,385 KG OF MUSSELS!

We knew you loved our mussels… but 1,385 kg in one summer?! 😲

That’s 1,385 kg of fresh, delicious mussels served, shared and enjoyed around our tables at Seagrass. 🌊

From sunny lunches to long coastal evenings, you certainly made mussels one of the flavours of the summer.

Thank you for making it such a shell-ebration! 🦪🤍

Now we have to ask… how many mussels do you think we’ll get through next summer? 👀
