Writing and leaving us a review is one thing and always but a smile on our faces however when you get a thank you card and a gift it just makes you understand why you do this day in day out!

Thank you to everyone that has left us some wonderful reviews over the past few weeks and thank you to everyone that keeps on coming back and look forwards to meeting new people and seeing some old people as well

🎃👻 A LITTLE PRE-HALLOWEEN SPIRIT AT THE CASTLE… 👻🎃

The nights are drawing in, there’s a chill in the sea air, and we’re getting into the Halloween spirit here at The Castle By The Sea! 🏰🌊🍂

Come in from the cold, enjoy a delicious evening meal, or settle in with your favourite drink as darkness falls over the North Bay… 🍷🌙

📖✨ Something very special is taking shape at Castle By The Sea…

I’m excited to share that my new book, Castle By The Sea: A History Corrected, is now in preparation!
What began as curiosity about the home and hotel Dean and I care for has grown into a journey through original architectural plans, archive records and photographs—uncovering a story that reaches further back than the familiar account of John Atkinson Grimshaw’s time here.

Within these pages, I’m bringing together what I’ve discovered: the people behind the house, its changing appearance and the evidence helping us understand its past more clearly. Seeing it all come together as a book is a very proud moment. 😁📕

Thank you to everyone who has followed my research, shared memories and photographs, and encouraged me along the way. Your interest has helped inspire me to take this next step.

Here’s a first glimpse… I’ll be sharing more peeks inside as the book develops. I can’t wait to share this piece of Scarborough’s history with you. 💛

🏰 A little bit of history at Castle-by-the-Sea…

History is such a huge part of what makes Castle-by-the-Sea special. ❤️

Earlier this year, we decided it was finally time to give our rather tired John Atkinson Grimshaw heritage plaque a little TLC and replace it with a lovely new one.

Grimshaw lived here from 1876–1879, and it’s amazing to think about the history and stories connected to this place.

So… here’s the old plaque and the new plaque — what does everyone think? 😊

So, as Christmas gets closer and closer by the day, it’s definitely time to start getting ready and planning! 🎅🎁

This year, as a business, we’ve put together a wonderful Christmas package full of delicious meals 🍽️, fantastic entertainment 🎶🎤 and, of course… what else could you ask for?!
