🦌🍂 There’s something truly magical about the rutting season at Muir Estate!
It’s the time of year when our magnificent stag, Otto, really comes into his own, and what a spectacular sight he is!
Roaring at the top of his lungs to remind everyone that this is his kingdom and these are his ladies, Otto spends his days strutting proudly around the park, rolling in mud to make himself look even more impressive, and keeping a watchful eye on his hinds. He likes to keep his girls close, just in case another handsome chap fancies trying his luck!
The only little downside to this wonderful time of year is that we can no longer take our guests staying at Muir Estate or Mid Torrie Farm into the deer parks to get up close and hand-feed the deer. Otto is far too busy being king of his castle, and we certainly wouldn’t want to disturb him!
But what we can offer instead is something equally special, the chance to witness one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles, right on our doorstep.
This wonderful moment was captured at the entrance to the deer park, directly in front of the Lodge at Muir Estate, giving our guests a fabulous, safe view of Otto in all his glory.
Naturally, I’d forgotten my mobile, but thankfully one of our lovely Mid Torrie Farm guests was on hand to capture the moment and kindly share it with us!
What a privilege it is to have these magnificent animals as part of our everyday lives. ❤️🦌
