What an absolutely wonderful way to celebrate 30 years of The Upper House!

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our 30th Anniversary Party. Seeing so many familiar faces, friends, families, past and present guests, and members of our local community all together made the afternoon incredibly special.

We are so grateful to everyone who gave up their time to come and celebrate this milestone with us. 30 years is quite an achievement, and it wouldn’t have felt like a celebration without all of you there!

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to all of the fantastic suppliers, entertainers and performers who helped make the day what it was. From the music and entertainment to all the little touches throughout the afternoon, you were brilliant and certainly kept our guests entertained! 🎶 And, of course, a huge thank you to our 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 who worked so hard behind the scenes and throughout the party to make everything happen. ❤️

We feel incredibly lucky to have been part of so many memories over the past three decades, and Saturday was another one we’ll treasure.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we’ve had to cancel the bouncy castle for today’s 30th Anniversary Party.

We know the little ones will be disappointed, but we’re hoping to make it up to them! If we can find a free afternoon before the winter weather arrives, we’re planning to get the bouncy castle back and put on a fun afternoon!

We’ll keep you posted with a date if we can make it happen!

There’s still plenty of fun planned for today, and we can’t wait to celebrate 30 years of The Upper House with you all 🎉

🎉 TOMORROW’S THE DAY! 🎉

Our 30th Anniversary Party is almost here and we absolutely cannot wait to celebrate with you all tomorrow! 🥳

Now… it looks like the Great British weather might not quite be on our side! ☔😂 But don’t worry – we have a Plan B!

If the weather decides to misbehave, our entertainment will be moving indoors to the Orangery and Woodlands Suite, so the party can most definitely continue! 🎶💃

A little heads-up though – seating inside will be very limited. Please make use of the seating available throughout the hotel, including our lounge and bar areas, and we’d really appreciate everyone being considerate and sharing tables and seating where possible.

And if the weather does decide to brighten up for us, you are still more than welcome to bring your own outdoor chairs and make yourselves comfortable in the gardens!

Rain or shine, we’re celebrating 30 YEARS of The Upper House and we’re determined to make it a brilliant evening! 🎉 Thank you so much for your understanding, and we’ll see you TOMORROW! Let’s party! 🥳🎶

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲… 🕰️

Today’s throwback takes us all the way back to June 2010, when we welcomed guests to a very special Open Day here at The Upper House.

Looking through these photographs brings back some wonderful memories. The day featured the incredibly talented artist Rob Pointon, whose distinctive paintings will be familiar to many of our regular guests – because they are still proudly displayed in our Wedgwood Restaurant today.

What makes them even more special is that Rob completed parts of the artwork right here at The Upper House during the Open Day, painting live as guests watched. The photographs capture the process beautifully, including the horse and rider who became part of the artwork on the day.

More than 16 years later, those paintings remain part of The Upper House and its story, taking pride of place in the Wedgwood Restaurant and serving as a lovely reminder of the people, events and moments that have filled the hotel over the years.

As we celebrate 30 years of The Upper House, we’ll be continuing to delve into the archives and share more photographs and memories from years gone by.

𝟯𝟬 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘! 🎊

This week is a rather special one for us… we’re celebrating 30 years of The Upper House!

And what better excuse to have a little rummage through the archives?

Throughout this week, we’ll be turning back the clock and sharing some throwbacks from years gone by – from familiar rooms looking very different, to old photographs of the hotel and some wonderful memories made along the way.

Some things have certainly changed over the years… and some you might recognise instantly!

The Upper House has welcomed thousands of guests through its doors over the past three decades – for weddings, celebrations, family gatherings, afternoon teas, overnight stays and everything in between. We’re incredibly proud of the memories that have been made here.

So keep your eyes peeled this week as we take a trip down memory lane…

🏡 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲? 👀

With our 30th Anniversary Party getting closer, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to delve into a little of the history behind our beautiful building… and test your Upper House knowledge at the same time!

Long before The Upper House became the hotel you know and love today, this beautiful building had already been standing for well over a century. Originally built as a family home for Francis Wedgwood, The Upper House has seen generations pass through its doors and has a wonderful connection to Staffordshire’s famous pottery heritage.

Over the years, the building may have changed and evolved, but so much of its original character remains. From the beautiful architecture and grand staircase to the gardens and historic features hidden throughout the grounds, there are little reminders of its past everywhere you look.

And now, 30 years later, we’re preparing to celebrate everything that has happened here since – the weddings, celebrations, afternoon teas, Sunday lunches, overnight stays and, most importantly, all the wonderful people who have walked through our doors.

Wedding videos usually capture all the beautiful moments, the stunning details and those picture-perfect memories… but sometimes, the bits that don’t quite go to plan are just as good! 😂

We absolutely loved watching our bloopers back from our recent wedding video shoot - safe to say there were plenty of laughs along the way!

A huge thank you to Laura from Vision Wave Weddings for not only creating such a wonderful wedding video for us, but for putting together this brilliant bloopers reel too. We had such a fun day filming with you and we think this gives a pretty good glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes at The Upper House!
