Last night we couldn’t believe our luck- getting a table at Beach House Restaurant was like finding a Willie Wonker ticket ! We rang on the off chance and ,to our delight, they could fit us in 🎉. After a stroll on the almost deserted beach we were first in when the doors opened at 6.30pm .

The staff are wonderful and service superb . The food is sublime. We savoured every mouthful . The flavours were exquisite. It must be 18 months to 2 yrs since we last dined there and this time was every bit as good ( if not better ) as our previous visits . We are very much spontaneous people and don’t tend to plan far ahead so we’ve always thought getting a table at this award winning Michelin restaurant was near enough impossible at short notice. But I’m posting this to encourage fellow foodies to give them a ring or check online because you may be lucky like us and find they have availability.

We had the 5/6 course taster menu . I cant remember what all those courses were but they were all fantastic. We chose the brill as the main course and we loved it. The bara brith soufflé was melt in the mouth.

We won’t leave it so long next time . As Arnie says , “ I’ll be back “ (or in our case we ) most definitely 😋😋

PS. This is not a paid ad ( I wish it was 😆) I just want you all to know it’s really very very good and not as hard to get a table now the summer holiday season is drawing to an end . ( Another good reason to visit Mumbles & Gower in autumn)

Last night we went to Oxwich bay for a walk on the beach and then dinner . It was so peaceful. The beach was very quiet . The sea was flat as a pancake . Such a lovely evening. We didn’t do the sauna last night as we had only decided to go to Oxwich a bit last minute but we have done before and I do recommend it. Our guests have also enjoyed the sauna and a sea dip too. In fact I’m sure they took a bbq to toast marshmallows afterwards .

This is an idyllic time to come and enjoy a restful , relaxing break away . Everything is much calmer when the schools have gone back but the weather is still good.

Evenings at the beach are really something special.

Walk the Wales Coast Path and watch the sun setting over the sea this autumn or get up early and watch it rising across Swansea bay . Either is spectacular. As the long hot summer begins to draw to an end we look forward to evenings when the sky looks on fire . We are now entering the time of year when we get the best sunsets & sunrises. It’s when Mumbles and Gower become calmer and quieter and you can truly relax . You can walk on beaches that are almost deserted . This is my favourite time of year . Sit outside one of Mumbles many coffee shops and watch the leaves begin to fall from the trees . Collect conkers in the park . Just relax , unwind and enjoy.

Get something in your diary to look forward to this Autumn/ winter . Our coastline is beautiful all year round and a few days away by the sea certainly brightens & breaks up what can feel like a long monotonous winter .

The weather is still usually good enough for coastal walks in October and even if it is a bit wild , it’s awesome to watch the waves crashing on to the rocks.

The village is lit with pretty Christmas decorations from the 3rd week of November too . There’s always lots of festive events and things to do during Dec too.

On Christmas Eve last year we had drinks in the sunshine with no coats and even had the deckchairs on the beach having Baileys on NYE !

Mumbles really is an all year round destination.

It’s called Sea Watch for a very good reason 👀 It’s the perfect place to relax , unwind and watch the sea . It’s ideally located to do lots of things or do absolutely nothing! It’s your holiday and you can cram as much or as little in to it as the need takes you .
Being 3 bedrooms over 3 levels also means it’s great for multi generational getaways . We regularly hosts parents, children and the grandparents all together.

5 TVs mean there’s no arguments in the evenings too .

5 star quality means you can enjoy hotel quality but enjoy the space of an entire house without being restricted to just a bedroom. So if you want to have your morning coffee looking out to sea in your pjs , you absolutely can .
If you want to make yourself a midnight snack you absolutely can ( you can’t in a hotel !)
If the children are exhausted from a beach day and need an early night , it doesn’t mean you have to go to bed too ( as you probably would in a hotel room )
