The Yorkshire coast is wonderful. From the wide sweep of Bridlington, the Victorian splendour of Filey, all the way to Whitby, Sandsend, Kettleness and Runswick Bay
But so is coming home to a lovely warm glow!
After a day beside the sea, head back inland.
Away from the crowds.
Back into the trees.
Back to your own kitchen, your own sofa and your own log-burning stove.

Dalby Forest.
The North York Moors.
Pickering, castle, museum, shopping
Whitby.

The steam railway.
Historic houses and castles.
And miles of beautiful countryside.

A day in Whitby can easily fill itself. Park on West Cliff and wander down Khyber Pass to…
The harbour.
Take a left over the swing bridge to….
The old town. Keep going past the kipper smokery to….
The 199 steps.
Where you will find, TaDa….
Whitby Abbey.
Back down for….
Fish and chips. (We prefer Mr Chips on the East Side).
Back over the bridge, past the Endeavour Wharf and up through Baxtergate to your car. Take a Breath!
And perhaps a walk along the coast at Sandsend before heading back across the moors.
It's one of the reasons Dalby Forest makes such a useful base for exploring North Yorkshire.
