Autumn in Whitby DOESN’T mean it’s closing
(What to see and do this Season).

Obviously, Whitby is still open for visitors.
In fact, it doesn’t even quieten down with still several of the annual events that Whitby is famous for to enjoy before the new year. Yes, you probably know about the;

Whitby Autumn “Goth Weekend” and the
Whitby Steampunk – “Gothic Alternative Market”.

But did you know that Whitby still has time this year for the “Whitby Lit Fest” 19th – 21st November 2026 and music events like “Whitby Rocks & Blues Festival”, “Whitby 60’s Spectacular”, the “Ultimate MOD Revue” – at Whitby Pavilion and the multicultural “Musicport Festival”. If you want to get out of Whitby you can perhaps visit the “Scarborough Jazz Festival”.

Back in Whitby, there wil be music by individual artists like
Kerry Ellis (who has worked with Brian May) & her “Rock Anthems” show.
Music from EDDI READER (Fairground Attraction)
and most weekends at Whitby Brewery there’s live music and bands.
There are lots of tribute shows scheduled like; “The Neil Diamond Songbook” at Whitby Pavillion, “Cloudbusting” – The Music of Kate Bush, “Forever Jackson” and “Nashville Live”.

If you want to hear from some of your real music hero’s then there is chance to listen to
Shaun Ryder and his “Happy Mondays, & Fridays, & Saturdays & Sundays” evening or John Lydon (S*x Pistols) and his “Spoken Show”.

Some evenings aren’t just about music.
There are events like “Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival” and even a “Night at The Darts” at Whitby Pavillion, with players like Gerwyn Price, Chris Dobey, Raymond van Barneveld, Adrian Lewis, Karl Coleman and Richie Parkin.

We haven’t got the space to talk about Whitby’s fabulous choices for eating and drinking but simply to say you can choose between Indian, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Tapas, fusion menus and of course the occasional Fish & Chips.

But it’s not all about being indoors.
If you need to burn off some of those calories then Whitby regularly hosts "The Cinder Track Parkrun" and “Whitby Bridge Bungee Jump Club” through this season.

The North Yorkshire Coast and countryside is famous for it’s glorious scenery and walks. Plus, in addition not walking you can ride in style during the North Yorkshire Moors Railway "Annual Steam Gala" or if you’re feeling brave, try North Yorkshire Moors Railway – “Mad Alice’s Ghost Train”.

In the evenings, stay outside and take advantage of the location to try the
“Stargazing in Dalby Forest” event or visit the
“North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Festival”.
Staying in Whitby, the season brings you the spectacle of the illuminated Abbey.

All of this is before we’ve mentioned the “C” word.
Of course Whitby prepares with
“Whitby Christmas Market & Festival” and the
“Made in Whitby at Whitby Brewery”, plus as usual the
North Yorkshire Moors Railway “Santa Specials” will be running in 2026

If Christmas isn’t your thing, then maybe you need to join with the darker side of the season and become a part of the
“Whitby Krampus Run” (4th – 6th December).

All this before the real pantomime begins; “Pinocchio”: The Pantomime at Whitby Pavillion and for the really brave, the Whitby Boxing Day Dip in the North Sea.

Hopefully, this message is made you realise, Whitby is open and there are plenty of reasons YOU SHOULD come to stay THIS YEAR. If you need more information about specific events or help to choose the best time for your visit or want to check prices and availability at Treasure Chest, then give us a call or drop us a message.

We understand that some people may be choosing a "Staycation" over the current risk of booking international flights.
Some people are also concerned that some companies may be "profiteering" from the increases in energy costs and are adding "fuel surcharges".
Here at Treasure Chest we continue our promise that we will NOT change your holiday price, once you have secured your booking (unless the change is made by the Government).

So, if you are looking for a holiday in Whitby, with a guaranteed, fixed price, then we have just uploaded our latest Price & Availability charts.
[Facebook won't allow us to upload documents to this page - so each month for 2026 is saved as a PHOTO in the ALBUM "2026 Direct Prices & Availability"].

Craig & Mandy send all our guests, Past, Present and Future wishes for a most wonderful Christmas.

Of course, we would love to show you photographs of all our Christmas decorations at Treasure Chest but we don’t want to spoil things for our guests celebrating the New Year. (So, we will post them soon).

Fortunately, for us and visitors to Whitby, the celebrations start with St Nicholas giving out presents to the good children at the beginning of December.
Unfortunately (for some), St Nicholas is followed by the demon Krampus, carrying away the naughty children.

Have a look at the videos and photos to see how Whitby Krampus raise thousands of pounds for local charities over the whole weekend.

If you are confident that you will remain Good throughout 2026, then perhaps you should fetch your naughty friends with you to Treasure Chest Whitby next December. We are taking bookings now for 2026 Krampus weekend, Christmas week and New Year celebrations.
Phone 07956 843861 for details or to receive our 2026 Price and Availability list.

Our Goth guests have now left. So, it’s no longer a spoiler if we share photographs of how we decorated Treasure Chest for this Halloween.

We love to make your stay at Treasure Chest all the more special with extra seasonal or decorations for special events.

Currently, we have added our tribute to the Remembrance week.
Once those decorations come down, we will be preparing for Krampus and St Nicholas coming to Whitby.
(If you don’t know who Krampus is, you need to checkout (3) Whitby Krampus Run | Facebook and make sure you’ve been Nice!).
Then, of course, we will be preparing for our full on Christmas and the New Year celebrations.

If you would like to experience a fully Loaded Treasure Chest, then give us a call to book. 07956 843861

You can see our prices for both Weekend or Midweek breaks as well as full week stays in the post 19th September.
