Ladycross offers carefully maintained spacious pitches with over two miles of woodland walks on site. Ladycross Plantation is set in 30 acres of mature woodland and offers peace and tranquility. Pitches are set in small secluded openings amongst the trees. Two new amenity blocks with underfloor heating and hygenic no touch infrared showers, shop selling local provisions and gas, laundry facilities.

Dog walkers, this one's for you 🐾 Two of our favourite routes right from Egton's doorstep:

🌲 Goathland & Mallyan Spout (3 miles, ~1hr30) — a short, shady woodland walk down into the valley to a hidden waterfall, returning along part of the old Whitby–Pickering railway line. There are steps and a rocky stretch beside the beck, so keep dogs on the lead if they're not sure-footed.

🌄 Howdale Moor & Brow Moor (4 miles, ~2hr30) — big open heather moorland with huge views towards Ravenscar and Robin Hood's Bay, no stiles to climb, and plenty of room to roam. It's Open Access land and a haven for ground-nesting birds, so keep dogs under control, especially off the main tracks.

Feeling ambitious? The Glaisdale–Egton Bridge and Lealholm–Grosmont river walks are gorgeous too, though they cross working farmland (expect livestock and several stiles) and include a stepping-stone crossing of the Esk — best done on the lead. Save this one for your next visit, and tag us in your walk photos!

The school run's back on, the trails are quiet again, and the North York Moors National Park is doing that thing where the sky feels twice as big. September's brings a slower page — but with the same big views, half the crowds, and a lot more elbow room on the countryside trails and cliff-top paths. If you can get away midweek, now's the time. 🍂

We know the school holidays are a bit out of sync this year, but it's back to school on Monday for children here in North Yorkshire. And with that, the end of the summer holidays.

The Ladycross team have loved meeting all our guests these past few weeks. From the seasonal pitch holders who are here year in, year out, to the tourers who call in for a few nights before heading off somewhere else - we've loved having you here!

September brings a slightly different crowd to the coast, and a slower pace of life. If you're planning to visit over the next few weeks one of the local highlights is which runs from 11th - 13th September, showcasing over a hundred artists in pop-up galleries throughout the village. Well worth a visit!

For now, enjoy the weekend everyone and safe travels if you're heading home.

Ladycross is a unique park. And not just because we're situated in 95 acres of woodland. Here are some of the aspects of how we operate which we think are pretty unique, and make staying here a different experience from other parks locally:

🌲 We've worked with nature, to create pitches which sit comfortably within the trees. Privacy and peace and quiet are important for our guests, so our pitches and the position of our lodges are designed with this in mind, with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.
🦊 Wildlife is welcome here. Our park is a haven for wildlife. From the pond which supports marine life and insects to the woodland which is home to numerous species of birds, mammals and our woodland chickens. Our guest regularly see amazing wildlife right from their caravans!
🛌🏻 Options. Whether you're a tourer, seasonal pitch holder, lodge owner or renter, you're all welcome at Ladycross.

🌞 Ok, so the weather's certainly a bit more mixed than we've grown used-to this summer. But it wouldn't be August Bank Holiday without a sudden downpour or two, would it?! Here's our Bank Holiday Bucket List. How many you can tick off?

🍦 It wouldn't be an August Bank Holiday without an ice cream, right? But are you a Trillos or Beacon Farm fan? We've also heard great things about Fusco Brothers at Quayside - their gelato is something else!
🌊 And while you're down on the seafront, how about a quick dip in the sea? Surf's up! Grab a board from Whitby Surf School and catch a wave or two.
👜 Head into town for some retail therapy. Check out Spiders Clothing for ladies and gents outfits, Furbellow & Co for interesting and unusual items and DeadGull for the latest lifestyle brand to be born in Whitby. The Whitby Bookshop if you fancy something to read and find The Dispensary on Skinner Street for healthy snacks & local honey.
☕ If coffee's your thing head to Mr Cooper's Coffee House or Java on Flowergate. For something a little stronger, check out Whitby Brewery and Whitby Distillery - both offering amazing tours of their respective businesses.
🍕 While you're at the Brewery, enjoy a delicious pizza. Or, head down into town and enjoy Hadley's Fish & Chips or Trenchers.
🦕 Head up to Pannett Park, relax and unwind in the shade of the trees, and then head into Whitby Museum to discover some local history.
🍬 You must be flagging now, so pay a visit to The Pot and Pineapple Whitby for some delicious liquorice or sweets!

Alternatively, if all that sounds a bit much, you're more than welcome to just relax amongst the trees here at Ladycross.

Have you heard about the Moors to Sea Cycle Network? It connects Scarborough, Whitby, Dalby Forest, Pickering and Great Ayton in a stunning series of moorland, forest and coastal loops. There are around 150 miles to explore, through the very heart of the North York Moors National Park – on quiet roads, woodland tracks and bridleways. Riding the whole network provides 5 or 6 days' great cycling. It's split into eleven separate sections so that you can tackle shorter stages on day rides and outings.

Don't fancy such a lot of riding? Well, the Whitby to Scarborough Cinder Track is a really accessible route. Perfect for families. Take it in sections bewtween Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Ravenscar, Hayburn Wyke and Scarborough - or tackle the whole lot in one go! It's a fantastic route, taking in some amazing scenery - our favourte section is between Hawsker and Robin Hood's Bay.

One thing the has in spades is amazing opportunities for walking and cycling. Back your boots. Bring your bike. Whether you're a family needing to keep the children occupied, or a keen road or mountain biker, you won't be disappointed.

As mentioned in our last post, the Esk Valley Way is an amazing route. We're also close to the Cleveland Way if cliff-top views and coastal scenery is your thing. Footpaths criss-cross the North York Moors, so get familiar with your trusty Ordnance Survey map and you can't go too far wrong!

Road cyclists will love the lanes which connect the Esk Valley villages, while those who prefer to head off-road will enjoy the bridleways and green lanes, as well as Dalby Forest which is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in the North of England.

You're spoiled for choice!

Looking to head off the beaten path? The Esk Valley Walk is the perfect antidote to the busyness of the Yorkshire Coast.

Winding its way from the source of the Esk to the sea, the Esk Valley Way can be tackled in shorter sections, taking in the beautiful Esk Valley villages of Castleton, Danby, Lealholm, Glaisdale, Grosmont, Egton Bridge, Sleights and Ruswarp - as well as offering amazing views from Blakey Ridge above Westerdale.

Why not make use of the Esk Valley railway line? Catch the train from Egton Bridge up the valley to Lealholm or Danby, then find your way back again? There are plenty of excellent pubs en-route too!

🪣 5 top coastal coves which aren't Whitby. Here's our rundown of some top local beaches which avoid the need to head into town. All just a short drive from Ladycross.

Runswick Bay. A coastal idyll, with iconic cottages clinging to the cliff. Parking at the top of the bank, and then a stroll down the hill to the beach, where you'll also find Tides Cafe and The Royal Hotel - great options for refreshments.

Sandsend. A mile or so north of Whitby. Always a sandy beach regardless of the tides. It can get busy with families, but always a great atmosphere. Perfect for sandcastle building, bodyboarding and also home to .well.being and their trailer sauna.

Robin Hood's Bay. Famous for smugglers, Robin Hood's Bay has a varied beach with both sand and a rocky shoreline, great for fossil hunters and rock pool enthusiasts. Plenty of cafes and pubs for convenient food & drink options.

Staithes. Another classic Yorkshire fishing village. A picturesque harbour protects the village from the ravages of North Sea storms. Often visited by artists, and those looking for something a little out of the ordinary. Staithes Festival is definitely worth visiting (11th - 13th September this year).

Boggle Hole. Just beyond Robin Hood's Bay. Fantastic Youth Hostel cafe tucked into the cove. Easy access to the Cleveland Way for circular walks between Ravenscar and Robin Hood's Bay.
