Fancy a change from the fells? 🍂 We’re putting together some ideas of things to see and do all within (give or take!) 30 minutes from our cottages which involve a more gentle pace, for the days you don’t want to tick off a Wainwright.

➡️A scenic drive along Ullswater takes you to the charming market town of Penrith. Spend the day browsing independent shops, discovering fabulous delis, enjoying cosy cafés and soaking up the local events and attractions.

We’d always recommend a visit to Penrith from our Elm How and Cruck Barn Cottages. 🤎

🚴🏼‍♀️ Next summer the Tour de France will pass right through the heart of the Lake District!

On Saturday 3 July 2027, Stage Two sets off from Keswick before heading through some of the region’s most beautiful scenery on its way to Liverpool.

Our cottages are perfectly located to soak up the action and get out on your bikes.

🚵🏽‍♀️ Don’t wait - accommodation is expected to book up well in advance so if you’d like to experience the world’s biggest cycling race here in the Lake District, we’d recommend booking early.
