It began with an open call
from the unique, and fabulous *Uppercase* magazine.
The theme? “Texture.”

My thoughts flew immediately to Karin.
She creates endlessly,
yet keeps her art within the quiet walls of home.
It was time for her work to travel.

I called her with a promise:
“I’ll handle everything.”
The photos. The words. The story behind her vision.

She agreed, stepping past her fears.
We sent the materials,
and then did the hardest thing of all:
we let go.
We stopped waiting.
Because true courage lies in the act,
not the anticipation.

Then, one February evening,
the email arrived.
Karin was selected.
Featured alongside artists from around the globe.

A pure joy exploded in my chest.
Not the noise of personal victory,
but the quiet beauty that blooms when the ego sleeps.
When we act with clarity,
far from the need to be seen,
life answers with unexpected force.

Thank you, *Uppercase*, for highlighting Karin’s poetry.

Thank you, life, for reminding us
that our task is to bring sweetness, openness, and light.
Now more than ever.

Be brave:
hold the hands of your talents
and let ‘em fly.

Beauty and kindness are needed
to turn this dark period into something living.

“We are humans and alive,”
says a beautiful song. 🕊️✨

Hi friends! Life is simply beautiful.

Take just a couple of minutes to join us—if you'd like.

Of course, there’s still some editing to do,
But I hold a deep respect for the rhythm,
for the gentle flow of time.

With love and smiles, we embrace
all the confusion,
the imperfections,
the unpredictability,
and the story that unfolds.

It's a story of preparation.

Welcome March, welcome Sunday.
And farewell to February.

Mr. February,
You left tip-toed,
with your costume made
with fewer days than the other months.

Always too short for your costume -
Perhaps too discreet.

Mr. February’s hours
not as cold as we used to.

Wee February,
spreader of farmer gestures.

The dried calendula holds your properties.
Mr. February, you - soul healer.

And the fruits left on the branches
turn their shapes
into the folk tales’ imagery,
while inside the home,
Your footprint is slowly dissolving.

🙏

But what do you do when the B&B is closed?
Do you go on vacation?

This is the question many guests ask us.

The answer is: we prepare.
We fix things.
We take care.
Care for the place.
Care for the plants.
Care and patience.
With a touch of introspective work too.

So that “the instruments,” like in an orchestra,
Are all tuned
When the first guest in spring
Crosses the garden gate.

Part Two🪽

Back into Karin’s world.

All these creations
keep being transformed.
A final point is rare.

She looks from every side
at what emerges
from her making.

Winter.
Time for herself.
Winter,
when everything seems still,
but it is only an illusion.

Life is movement.

Part One

Inside Karin’s studio.

Works still becoming.

A quiet listening
to materials and textures.
A slow search
for patterns.

Upcycled rubber,
plastic, paper, wire,
fabric, cardboard—
materials with a past.

She stitches.
She crochets.

Following resonances.
Letting the current lead.
Letting
what emerges
surprise her.

And often finding
that the other side—
the one left untouched—
opens up
as the most alive.

Winter days 🧣❄️

Sliding backward through time
from the white mantle
to its origin.

The sense of San Martino
for the snow
[loosely echoing the title of a beautiful book]

Here, in images,
the answer
to a question we are so often asked
during the season:
“But does it snow here in winter?”

And if you look closely
at the short film along the road,
you will spot little Cosetta —
for those of you
who hold her dear.

Stay.
Stay with us.

In the real chatter.
In the chaos of gestures.
Among branches,
leaves,
berries.

Among cups left here and there
on the tables.

Spiced
the grog offered by Karin.
Fragrant
the air of the veranda,
scented with bay laurel, cypress, rosemary.

The door closed
to keep the warmth in.
And every now and then
a bite
of the good panettone
that Patrizia brought.

Here you are Afternoon,
without veils,
without artifice,
without hurry

as we lived it.

The traditional
women’s gathering
for the creation
of Advent wreaths.

Off-season life at the Fattoria.

Sunday in the clouds 🌿

Waking up under the lowest clouds,
so low they feel like fog.

Writing,
picking up my knitting again,
lighting the stove.

Here, everything is calm.
Not in the village.

Cars, buses, people upon people -
stuffing the narrow streets,
drawn in by the Christmas market.

We, instead, savour the quiet.
But it’s a strange kind of quiet,
knowing that just at the end
of San Martino’s dirt road
Cars are already parked in double rows.

And these clouds protect,
like a soft mohair scarf,
the countryside that whispers
a gentle, unbound Christmas spirit.

This week mood 🧭🌿

Karin says in the video [third shot]-

🧽” I mend the faded patches.
I always tell everyone:
here you wet it and it comes off.
But I had never tried it myself.
Today I did.
And it’s true.
Because it’s clay.
This is earth.
After all, when I painted it…
All these elemental beings…“.

🤔And while winter draws near,
and the sun sets halfway
through the afternoon,

In this moment when nature
helps humans find order
within themselves,
to tidy up with love
for the unique things
each of us carries,

without getting distracted.

There is so much to clean up.

🍂Even the fig leaves
that cover everything
in apparent chaos.

✋Instead of losing ourselves
in shopping
and filling spaces already too full,

Let’s follow the wise suggestion
of the natural world.

📴Let’s shed,
lower the noise,
Listen to our breath.

A gift of rebirth
for us, for those we love,
for the whole worlds.

Good Day🍎

The last lunch together.
A tradition.
The whole team gathered
in gratitude.
Each of us
cooked something
at home
and offered it to the others.

An unplanned menu:
Soup of mixed cabbages (Karin)
Zucchini fritters (Brunella)
Sweet-and-sour mixed salad (Lorenza)
Rice croquettes with vegan mayonnaise (Ilaria)
Salad of the season’s final tomatoes from our garden (Miran)
Crème Caramel (Patrizia)
Chocolate and date bites (Gennarina)
Dutch sweets (Karin)

And so the Farm closes its 2025 season.

Of course, Cosetta and Avventura were there too {see last pics}…
and the apples from our biodynamic orchard.

🙏Thank you, all of you,
who supported us
and passed through here—
for a long time
or just a moment.

You belong to our family and community forever ❣️❣️❣️
