Kia Ora Dear Souls, I am sure that many of you, like me, are following the Commission of Inquiry into the tragic incident at Mt Maunganui Holiday Park. If not, as a camper, you should be. Anyway, there were three reports made regarding the danger to life during rain events. None of them were acted on and subsequently six people lost their lives.
Now, three reports have also been made regarding the danger to life here at Piha Campground during a rain event. As you all know myself and my Crew are all highly reactive to rain situations here. Never hesitating to put people before profit and shutting the camp when rain events are looming. Twenty days this year, closed in order to put safety first.
However, Council are as nervous as a cat in a room full of mousetraps and the Camp is not to open until they’ve had a go ahead from the legal team.
I can’t argue with that. Looking like Labour Weekend Whanau. So sorry 😢
