🛠️ A Little Motel Makeover Story...

Some of our returning guests might remember this space as the old bathroom attached to our Two Bedroom Spa Apartment.

After being converted years ago, it slowly became a room that nobody really used... except for storing odds and ends and providing a home for a few local spiders! 🕷️😂

We saw the potential and decided it deserved a new life!

Today, that forgotten space has been transformed into our fully equipped communal kitchen and guest laundry, giving guests a convenient place to prepare proper meals and catch up on the washing during their stay. 🍳🥓🧺

Whether you're cooking up the day's fresh catch, making breakfast before exploring the Coromandel, tackling a basket of holiday laundry, or preparing a family dinner, the space is there for everyone to enjoy.

We're proud to keep improving Coromandel Seaview Motel, one project at a time, to make your stay even more comfortable.

Who would've thought an old storage room and spider hangout could become one of the most useful spaces at the motel? 🕷️➡️🍳🧺😄

🎣🐟 Fish Story Time! 🐟🎣

We headed out from Sugarloaf Wharf, Coromandel, nice and early, making our way down towards the mussel farms in the Firth of Thames.

What a stunning way to start the day. The water was calm, the sun was coming up, and the scenery was absolutely magic. To be honest, even if we hadn't caught a single fish, it still would've been a perfect morning on the water. 🌅

But luckily for us, the fish had other ideas!

Before long we'd put a few good-sized snapper in the chilly bin, cracked open a couple of cold beers, and settled in for what was shaping up to be a fantastic day.

Then, just when the rest of us thought we were doing alright...

Kim hooked into the catch of the day. Again. 😂🐟🏆

At this point we're starting to suspect she knows something the rest of us don't.

We're not saying it's gone to her head, but the fish had barely hit the deck before the photos started, the bragging rights were claimed, and another chapter was added to the ever-growing legend of "Kim's Biggest Fish." 🤣

Back home with fresh fish for dinner, plenty to share with friends and neighbours, and enough stories to last us until the next trip.

The fish were biting, the beers were cold, and Kim won again. Some things are just becoming tradition! 🍻🎣😂

From boats to kayaks, and plenty of fish in between! 😂🎣

Over the years we've spent countless hours on the water around the beautiful Coromandel, chasing snapper, exploring hidden spots, and creating memories that are almost as big as the fish stories! 🐟🤣

🌿💦 Waiau Falls – One of Our Favourite Spots in Coromandel 💦🌿

If you've travelled along the 309 Road, chances are you've stopped at the beautiful Waiau Falls. Tucked away amongst native bush, it's one of those special Coromandel spots that's easy to visit but never gets old.

Just a short 3-minute walk from the roadside, the falls are a great place to stretch your legs, take in the scenery, and of course snap a few photos. 📸

At Coromandel Seaview Motel, we're only about 13km away, and we love heading out there whenever we get the chance. No matter how many times we visit, we always seem to come home with another dozen photos on our phones!

Recently, we visited after some heavy rainfall and wow, what a difference. The water was absolutely roaring over the falls. We couldn't resist taking a video as the amount of water rushing through was incredible. It's amazing how a place you've visited many times can look completely different after a good Coromandel downpour. 🌧️💦

If you're planning a day out, why not combine your visit with: 🌲 The Kauri Grove - a beautiful walk amongst impressive mature kauri trees. 🎡 The Waterworks - a quirky and fun attraction that's great for the whole family.

Together they make for a fantastic Coromandel adventure.

UPDATE: WE HAVE TENANTS! 🎉🐦

Well, that didn't take long...

Just 3 days ago we shared how some local birds decided that the space under our upstairs deck at Coromandel Seaview Motel was the perfect place to build their nest. Rather than charging them rent, Gail got busy with some leftover timber and built four bird boxes to give them a few more accommodation options.

And guess what?

WE HAVE OUR FIRST TENANTS! 🐦🏡

It seems our feathered guests have given Gail's handiwork the tick of approval and moved into one of the new bird boxes already. We were expecting a lengthy inspection process, maybe a few viewings, and perhaps a negotiation over the sea views... but apparently they were happy enough to move straight in!

So it looks like Gail really has built five-star bird accommodation after all. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Now we're keeping an eye on the other boxes to see if more birds decide to join the neighbourhood. Before we know it, we might have to start taking bird bookings at reception!

📸🌅 Long Bay has taken over my phone! 😂
I was scrolling through my photos the other day looking for one picture and somehow ended up down a Long Bay rabbit hole...
Sunsets, boats, dogs, family walks, more sunsets... and about 27 photos of the same sunset because the sky looked "slightly different" every 30 seconds! 🤣
It always starts the same way...
"We'll just pop down for a quick look."
Considering Long Bay is only a 2-minute walk from Coromandel Seaview Motel, it's almost too easy! 😆
Five minutes later you're taking photos.
Ten minutes later you're taking more photos.
An hour later you're still there saying, "Just one more before we go!" 📸😂

I was scrolling through my photos the other day looking for one picture and somehow ended up down a Long Bay rabbit hole...

🎣🤣 The Aussies came over, so naturally we had to show them how fishing is really done! 🇦🇺🐟

We headed out with the legends at Coromandel Fishing Adventures at 7am, thinking we'd be out there all day. Nope! The fish clearly hadn't got the memo because by 10am we'd already caught our limit! 🎣💪

Back home by 11am, cleaning fish and telling stories that seemed to get bigger every time they were told.

And of course... Kim caught the biggest fish! 🏆🐟

Now, I'm not saying Kim has mentioned it more than once... but if you visit us over the next six months, there's a good chance you'll hear about "that fish" at least three times. 😂

We smoked some of the catch and turned it into an amazing smoked fish pie. There was so much fish left over we started handing it out to the neighbours, friends, and even the old guy down the road who can't get out fishing anymore. He was absolutely stoked to get some fresh fish and that made the day even more special. ❤️

A massive thanks to Coromandel Fishing Adventures for a fantastic day on the water.
