Its exciting to see the new life being breathed into the Opal Hot Springs & Holiday Park with new owners and significant new investment and development happening over the whole complex. Opal is less than 1km from Okauia House and was a hive of activity yesterday. The private spa pools and the private Ramarama Pool are looking great too. Naturally heated, these pools are a great option for swimming or relaxing.

Enjoying the winter sun 🌞. Okauia House guest suite is North facing with a large double glazed window which is private and brings in beautiful views and sun. Its the perfect winter retreat, cosy and warm while enjoying the stunning frosty Waikato winter views.

Good news that the Blue Springs is back open. Definitely worth a look if you are visiting Matamata or the South Waikato.

The Hobbiton 'Middle-Earth Halfling Marathon' is a hugely popular event, held at the end of March every year and attracts literally thousands of international visitors. We are usually booked out for the event many months in advance. We had a lovely young lady stay with us this year who was happy to be photographed getting into the spirit of the event! Planning for the 2026 Halfling Marathon is already well underway!

The mares and foals just outside the guestroom window have been quite an attraction over the last few months. Loving the review that we got on Booking.com yesterday from a lovely Taiwanese couple: "Amazing suite and stunning views. You can even hear the horses snoring in the night time.100% recommend" Love it. 😄
