Barbecue and Picnic Areas, Hire items available, 18-hole golf course adjacent. Two hot mineral outdoor public pools, one freshwater 25m Lap Pool, and one outdoor hot mineral private pool (temperatures from 27 to 40 degrees C). Pets - while we are a pet friendly holiday park, pets are permitted ONLY on powered and non-powered sites by prior arrangement. Pets are NOT permitted into guest accommodation.

Some of our older cabins are in need of a little love, so we’ve started on the next transformation!

The feedback from our cabin upgrade last year was fantastic, but there was one limitation — it only had one bed. So this time, we’re going a little bigger…

Introducing our new Family Cabin! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

This self-contained cabin will have everything you need for an easy, affordable family stay:
✨ One queen bedroom
✨ A small bunk room
✨ A modest private bathroom
✨ Your own kitchenette
✨ Plus a pull-out couch for those extra family members

It’ll be perfect for families or small groups who want an affordable place to stay while still having the convenience of their own kitchen and bathroom.

There’s a bit of work to do yet — as you can see! 🔨 — but we’re excited to bring another one of our older cabins back to life.

🛝 THE NEW PLAYGROUND IS READY! 🎉

After weeks of watching it all come together, our brand-new playground is officially open — and our little testers have already given it a very enthusiastic tick of approval! 💚

Our main playground is ready for holiday park guests, with plenty to climb, swing, balance, spin and explore.

And we haven’t forgotten our pool visitors! We’ve also added a new slide in the BBQ area, giving the kids somewhere to play between swims while the adults relax nearby.

Our visitors this weekend will be the first to properly put the new playground through its paces — we have a feeling it’s going to be a popular spot!

Another big step forward at Opal — the old shower block has officially gone! 👋

This area is being cleared in preparation for our long-awaited new communal facilities, and it’s exciting to finally see the space opening up. As you can see, we’re also starting to open the area out towards the pools, which is going to create some lovely views from the new building. 😍♨️

A quick heads-up for anyone staying with us over the next few weeks: we do have other shower and bathroom facilities available, however we’ll be operating at a lower capacity while we wait to commission the new facilities.

We really appreciate your patience while we work through this next stage — there’s plenty happening behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to show you the finished result!

We are incredibly proud to share that we took home the Small Park Improvement Award at the Holiday Parks New Zealand Awards! 🏆

A huge thank you to our amazing staff, contractors, suppliers and everyone who has supported us along the way. Most importantly, thank you to our wonderful guests for your patience, encouragement and continued support as we've invested in making Opal an even better place to visit and stay.

We're also incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive industry. A huge congratulations to Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park on taking out the **Supreme Award** last night. What an outstanding achievement and such an inspiration to us all. 👏

While we're taking a moment to celebrate, we're certainly not slowing down. We have plenty more exciting projects underway, and we can't wait to share what's next.

Thank you to Holiday Parks New Zealand for a fantastic evening, and congratulations to all of the finalists and winners. We're honoured to be part of such an innovative and passionate industry.

There's plenty happening behind the scenes, and we couldn't be more excited about what's taking shape!

✨ We're preparing the site for our brand-new communal facilities.
🛝 Construction has officially begun on our new playground.
🛠️ The interior revamp of our ablution block is also well underway.

These projects are all part of our ongoing commitment to making Opal an even better place for our guests and community.

A huge thank you to our hardworking team for everything they're achieving, and to all of our guests for your patience and understanding while we work through these improvements. We know the temporary disruption will be well worth it, and we can't wait to share the finished results with you.

A bittersweet goodbye to the old cottage. 🏡❤️

Over the past few days we've started saying goodbye to one of the oldest buildings on the property.

While we always hoped it could be restored, once we began removing the flooring it became clear that it was simply beyond repair. The extent of the damage underneath meant it wasn't safe or practical to save.

Rather than rushing the process, we're taking our time to carefully salvage as much of the beautiful native timber as possible. There's some incredible old wood in this building, and we'd love to see it live on in future projects around Opal—whether that's feature walls, furniture, landscaping, or other special touches that help preserve a little piece of its history.

Although it's sad to see it go, this is another step towards creating new spaces for our guests while honouring the past wherever we can.

Stay tuned—we're excited to show you what comes next. 💚
